Clam dip has been around the party scene for a long time. This classic recipe is used by many American cooks at many different types of gatherings.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (7 ounce) can clams, chopped, drained, juice reserved
8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon grated onion
salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients plus 4 tablespoons of the reserved clam juice in a bowl and mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Put mixture in a serving bowl and chill.
  • Serve with potato chips, crackers, or small pieces of raw vegetables.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1½ 8oz packages cream cheese, room temperature
¾ cup sour cream
3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
5 6½oz cans chopped clams, drained, 4 Tbsp juice reserved
¾ cup chopped fresh chives
Assorted fresh vegetables (such as broccoli and cauliflower florets, bell pepper strips, whole tiny radishes, and jicama sticks)
Yellow and blue tortilla chips

Steps:

  • Using electric mixer, beat cream cheese, sour cream, and lemon juice in medium bowl until smooth. Mix in clams and chives. Add reserved clam juice by tablespoonfuls to thin to desired consistency. Season dip to taste with salt and pepper. DO AHEAD: Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill. Bring to room temperature before serving. Place bowl with dip in center of platter. Surround with vegetables and chips and serve.
