Categories     Meat and Poultry Recipes     Beef     Steaks     Flat Iron Steak Recipes

Time 2h

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 13

¼ cup fresh lime juice
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
⅓ cup fresh grapefruit juice
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons chili garlic sauce
2 teaspoons honey
1 ½ teaspoons minced fresh ginger root
1 teaspoon garlic salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 pinch ground cinnamon
1 (1 pound) flat iron steak

Steps:

  • Whisk together lime juice, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, rice vinegar, olive oil, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, and honey in a bowl until the honey has dissolved. Season with ginger, garlic salt, pepper, and cinnamon; whisk until blended. Place the flat iron steak into a resealable plastic bag, and pour the marinade overtop. Squeeze out the excess air, seal, and marinate in the refrigerator 1 1/2 hours. Do not marinate much longer than this, as the citrus juice will "cook" the beef.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat.
  • Remove flat iron from the marinade, and discard the remaining marinade. Cook on preheated grill until the steak has attained your desired degree of doneness, about 2 minutes per side for medium-rare. Place steak onto a plate, set aside, and allow to rest for 3 to 4 minutes before slicing.

Turkey steaks with citrus & ginger sauce image

Use quick-cook turkey steaks for this recipe as they cook in a few minutes, and make a change from chicken

Provided by Good Food team

Categories     Dinner, Main course

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tsp cornflour
4 quick-cook turkey breast steaks, weighing about 300g/10oz total
1 tbsp sunflower oil
3 oranges , juice of 2 and one peeled and cut into segments
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
1 tsp clear honey
1 pink grapefruit , peeled and cut into segments
1 tbsp fresh snipped chives or chopped parsley
wild or long grain rice and steamed broccoli, to serve

Steps:

  • Sprinkle a teaspoon cornflour onto a plate, then press the turkey steaks into the cornflour to dust them lightly. Heat the oil in a large non-stick frying pan, until it is really hot. Add the turkey and fry for 3-4 minutes, turning once until golden on both sides - cook in batches if need be. Transfer to a plate.
  • Add the orange juice, ginger and honey to the pan. Gently bring to the boil. Mix the remaining cornflour with 1 tbsp cold water and stir into the sauce. Keep stirring on a gentle heat until thickened and syrupy, like a sweet and sour sauce. Season.

STEAK TACOS

Steak Tacos image

Easy flank steak tacos with citrus marinade. This easy recipe for the grill, stovetop, or oven makes the BEST perfectly tender steak tacos.

Provided by Erin Clarke / Well Plated

Categories     Main Course

Time 1h25m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 pound flank steak (trimmed of excess fat)
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic (minced (about 2 teaspoons))
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 tablespoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (plus additional for grilling the steak)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper (plus additional for grilling the steak)
Canola oil (for coating the grill)
8 7-inch corn or flour tortillas
Shredded Monterey jack (feta, or queso fresco cheese)
Other toppings: chopped fresh cilantro (diced red onion, sliced or diced tomatoes)

Steps:

  • Place the flank steak in a baking dish. In a medium mixing bowl or large measuring cup, stir together the olive oil, garlic, orange juice, lime juice, cumin, salt, and pepper. Pour over the steak. Cover tightly with plastic and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 8 hours (do not marinate for more than 8 hours or the steak will break down and soften too much).
  • When ready to grill, remove the steak from the refrigerator and let stand at room temperature while you prepare any toppings and preheat the grill.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill or indoor grill pan over medium-high heat (alternatively, you can cook the steak under your broiler-place your oven rack in the upper third, usually the second closest rack to the top). Brush the grill grates with oil. Remove the steak from the marinade, shaking off any excess. Grill (or broil) the steak for about 3-4 minutes per side, flipping once, until medium-rare (The steak should read 135 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer.)
  • Remove the steak to a cutting board and cover with foil. Let rest for 5 minutes (this allows the juices to sink into the meat), then cut the steak into thin, 1/4-inch slices, slicing it across the grain.
  • Next, warm the tortillas. Place them in a dry skillet heated over medium-high or heat them on the grill for about 30 seconds per side, until warmed through.
  • To serve, fill the tortillas with a few slices of beef. Sprinkle with cheese and any desired toppings. Enjoy immediately.

CITRUS- AND CHILI-MARINATED STEAK TACOS WITH LIME SLAW

Citrus- and Chili-Marinated Steak Tacos with Lime Slaw image

This is my new go-to first course on Shabbat. The meat is juicy and seasoned with a fusion of Asian and Mexican flavors. The plate is layered with warm or toasted corn tortillas, followed by rustic lime slaw, then layered with the marinated and grilled steak and topped with guacamole and tomatoes. Bright and beautiful flavors, stunning presentation, and a memorable taste. Sorry, fish tacos, these steak tacos are my new BFF. READ MORE

Categories     Appetizers

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 19

1/2 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro, checked or bug-free
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons Gefen Canola Oil
3 tablespoons Gefen Soy Sauce
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
2 large cloves garlic, minced or 2 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground Gefen Black Pepper
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 (2-pound) minute steak roast or hanger steak (about 1 and 1/2 inches thick)
4 cups mixed coleslaw (mixed shredded purple and green cabbage or a blend of your choice)
1 cup shredded carrot
1 scallion, sliced
zest and juice of 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons juice)
3 tablespoons Gefen Mayonnaise
1/4 cup reserved marinade (above)
12 6-inch corn tortillas
homemade or store-bought guacamole
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

Steps:

  • In a large baking dish, whisk cilantro, brown sugar, canola oil, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, crushed red pepper, black pepper, and coriander to blend well. Reserve one-fourth cup of the mixture in a small bowl for the slaw. Place steak in the remaining marinade and turn to coat. Marinate for at least 20 minutes at room temperature, or cover and refrigerate for up to one day, turning occasionally. Cover and refrigerate the reserved marinade.
  • Heat grill pan or outdoor grill over medium heat. Remove steak from the marinade (discard the marinade) and grill, turning halfway through cooking, for a total of about 10 minutes, until the meat reaches an internal temperature of 130 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare or 140 degrees Fahrenheit for medium. Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let stand for five to 10 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, whisk reserved marinade, lime zest, lime juice, and mayonnaise. Stir in slaw and mix.
  • Heat tortillas on the grill, turning occasionally, for about one minute, or heat on a warming tray or in the oven until hot. Transfer to a serving bowl and cover to keep warm.
  • Cut steak across the grain into quarter-inch-thick slices. Place a warm tortilla on each individual plate. Put about one-fourth cup slaw in center of each tortilla, followed by two slices of steak. Top with guacamole and cherry tomatoes.
