CIRCUS FREAKS
A crazy combination of banana, peanut butter, bacon, and chocolate...yeah, hence the name. I was inspired to create this concoction by a burger known as the Elvis which came topped with bacon and peanut butter. Refrigerate leftovers.

Steps:
- Place the bacon in a large, deep skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on a paper towel-lined plate. Cut each slice into 1-inch pieces while still warm, and set aside.
- Melt 2/3 of the chocolate in the top of a double boiler over barely simmering water, stirring to melt the chocolate. (Do not let water or steam drip into the chocolate or it will seize up.) Bring the chocolate up to no more than 110 degrees F (43 degrees C), measuring with a thermometer. Stir in the reserved chopped chocolate, remove from the heat, and stir off the heat until the temperature of the chocolate comes down to 88 to 90 degrees and most of the chocolate pieces have melted. Remove any unmelted pieces, and hold the chocolate over warm water at this temperature for dipping.
- Slice the bananas into 1-inch pieces, and cut each piece down the center to make half moons. Spread the bottom of each half moon with about 1/2 teaspoon of peanut butter. Stick the banana piece, peanut butter side down, onto a square of bacon, and skewer the banana and bacon together with a toothpick.
- Dip the banana and bacon treats into the melted chocolate until completely covered; place dipped treats onto waxed or parchment paper until cool and set. Refrigerate leftovers.

- Grady Stiles: The Lobster Boy. Okay, so as I mentioned earlier, I actually saw the Lobster Boy. I was a kid, and it was in the 80s. I could've written a whole book about this experience as it was so weird, but today, what I remember the most from meeting Grady Stiles was that while I thought the experience was going to be super funny, instead, it ended up being really kind of sad.
- Susi: The Elephant Girl. So I don't know about you, but I don't know a whole lot of women that would want to be known as The Elephant Girl. But this was the unfortunate fate of Susi, who had a condition called ichthyosis.
- Edouard Beaupre: Giant. Before Andre the Giant, there was Edouard Beaupre, who not only performed in freak shows, but wrestled as well. According to TheHumanMarvels.com, "Edouard was robust and possessed incredible strength.
- Betty Lou Williams: Parasitic Twin. Hmm, what haven't we covered yet? There has to be something. Oh yeah, how about a parasitic twin? Betty Lou Williams was born in Georgia in 1932.
- Willie and George Muse: The Men From Mars. Only back in the days of freak shows could two black albino brothers be called The Men From Mars. They were originally from Virginia and were actually kidnapped as boys by bounty hunters working for the circus.
- Mirin Dajo: The Invulnerable Man. Hey kids, have you ever wanted to stick a sword through your chest? Yeah, me neither. But Mirin Dajo did. He started doing this in his 30s as he was hanging out in bars in Amsterdam.
- Eli Bowen: The Legless Wonder. You know what's kind of important? Legs. I mean seriously, legs are the things that you need to walk and perform other actions of that nature.
- Isaac Sprague: The Living Skeleton. So I probably don't have to explain a whole lot about why this guy is in this particular article. Dude is skinny! He was apparently completely normal until he turned 12 years old, when all of a sudden, it became impossible for him to keep any weight on his body.
- Stephan Bibrowski: The Lion-Faced Man. All right, so if this guy was born today, he would probably be thought of as the biggest hipster of all time. Bibrowski suffered from something they called Werewolf Syndrome but was scientifically identified as "hypertrichosis."
- Ella Harper: The Camel Girl. Hey look, everyone -- a Camel Girl! (Sorry, just trying to get into the whole freak show mood.) Ella had some issues with her back knees, which allowed her to bend them in such a way that she...
