Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  • Cut in the butter until coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the sour cream and milk just until combined. Do not overmix or your biscuits will be tough!
  • Knead about 10 times on a floured surface, then press out to 1/2 inch thickness.
  • Cut with a biscuit cutter dipped in flour.
  • Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool on wire racks.
  • Best served warm with apple butter. You can also use a powdered sugar glaze and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

c 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Tbsp 1 tablespoon baking powder
tsp 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
tsp 1 teaspoon salt
c 1 cup sour cream
Tbsp 1 tablespoon sugar
tsp 2 teaspoons cinnamon
tsp 1 teaspoon nutmeg
tsp 2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring
c 3/4 cup raisins
c 3/4 cup milk

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add sour cream, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and mix well with a spoon. Fold in raisins and milk and make into a dough, adding flour if needed. Pat or roll dough out (I just pat it out with my hands) on a hard surface and cut with a biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on a sprayed baking sheet. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 10 - 12 biscuits depending on size you make them.
  • 2. Topping for Biscuits 1 cup powdered sugar 4 or 5 tablespoon milk In a bowl whisk together the milk and sugar until you get the consistency you want to drizzle over the hot biscuits. Note: You can reheat biscuits and leftover topping in microwave.

¾ cup sour cream
1 ½ tablespoons water

Steps:

  • Mix together flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Add sour cream and mix to a soft dough. Add additional water if necessary.
  • With well floured hands shape dough into round biscuit shapes. Bake at 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) for 12 minutes.

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Stir in sour cream just until moistened., Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 8-10 times. Pat or roll dough to 1/2-in. thickness; cut with a floured 2-1/4-in. biscuit cutter. Place 1 in. apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, 10-12 minutes. Brush biscuits with butter; serve warm.
