1 gallon apple cider
2/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons whole allspice
2 teaspoons whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks, 3 inches long
2 oranges, studded with cloves

Steps:

  • In 4-quart Dutch oven, heat all ingredients except oranges to boiling; reduce heat. Cover; simmer 20 minutes.
  • Strain punch through sieve or colander. Pour into small heatproof punch bowl. Float oranges in bowl. Serve hot.

4 cups apple cider or juice
2 cups orange juice
3 tablespoons Red Hots
1-1/2 teaspoons whole allspice
4-1/2 teaspoons honey

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine the cider, juice and candies. Place the allspice on a double thickness of cheesecloth; bring up corners of cloth and tie with string to form a bag. Add to pan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until flavors are blended, 5 minutes. , Discard spice bag; stir in honey. Transfer to a 3-qt. slow cooker; keep warm over low heat.

3 cups freshly squeezed orange juice
3 cups apple cider
2 oranges, thinly sliced
1 lime, thinly sliced
4 (3 inch) cinnamon sticks
8 whole cloves
1 star anise
2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Combine orange juice, apple cider, orange slices, lime slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise in a large saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Remove cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. Stir in honey and keep warm.
  • Pour warm cider into cups and garnish with a cinnamon stick for stirring and several orange and lime slices.

2 quarts ginger ale
1 (8 ounce) bag red-hot candies
5 cinnamon sticks
12 whole cloves

Steps:

  • Put all the liquid ingredients in 42 cup coffee percolator.
  • Fill basket with remaining ingredients.
  • Plug in and brew.
  • Cider is done when coffee maker stops perking.
  • Makes approximately 24 (8 ounce) servings.
  • OR, put liquid ingredients in a large kettle and tie the dry ingredients into a cheesecloth pouch. Simmer for about half an hour and serve.

  • In a pitcher, combine sparkling apple cider, bourbon and peach liqueur and cinnamon Schnapps. Stir thoroughly and pour into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick in each glass. Serve immediately.

Simple spiced apple cider! I used to buy the spices already mixed at the grocery store, and they stopped carrying it this year, so I just made my own. This is great for a shower or get together and the slow cooker keeps it warm, so guests can enjoy it through the night. When it's done, it's great mixed with spiced rum and/or a slice of orange! Leftover cider is great cold too!
