Cinnamon sugar-coated churro waffles are crunchy, sweet, and delicious. And they're topped with chocolate sauce, just like the real thing!

For the Waffles:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
11/2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cups butter (melted)
2 eggs (beaten)
2 1/4 cups milk
For the Topping:
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Optional: hot fudge sauce, caramel sauce, whipped cream

Steps:

  • Gather your ingredients.
  • Whisk together the dry ingredients-flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
  • Whisk together the melted butter, milk, and eggs in a liquid measuring cup.
  • Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and combine until all the dry ingredients are just moistened.
  • Cook the waffles on your waffle iron to your desired doneness. Keep them warm in a 250F oven while your finish cooking all of them.
  • Gather your topping ingredients.
  • Combine the cinnamon and sugar together in a bowl.
  • Melt the butter and brush the cooked waffles with the melted butter on both sides.
  • Dust the waffles with the cinnamon sugar until they are completely coated on both sides.
  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second increments until completely melted. Then drizzle the chocolate sauce over the top of the waffles, and serve with whipped cream!

These waffles are made simple by using a mix. They are coated in loads of cinnamon-sugar and ready to eat in minutes. These churro waffles make the perfect last-minute breakfast and are sure to be a hit.

2-1/2 cups buttermilk pancake mix
1-1/4 cups cold water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup butter (melted)
1/2 cup white sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
Whipped cream and strawberries (optional)
Maple syrup (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat your waffle iron, and spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a medium-size bowl, combine the pancake mix, water and oil. Stir until combined.
  • Pour the batter into the preheated waffle iron, and follow the waffle iron's instructions to make 4 full-size waffles.
  • Meanwhile, in one bowl melt the butter, and in another bowl combine the white sugar and cinnamon.
  • Cut each waffle into the 4 segments created by the waffle iron.
  • Dip each segment into the butter. Shake off the excess, and then dip both sides of the buttered waffle into the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Shake off the excess.
  • Garnish with whipped cream and strawberries and syrup, if desired.
  • Enjoy immediately.

  • In a medium saucepan, add water, butter and salt. Bring to a boil and stir until butter is completed melted. Turn off heat and add in flour. Stir until all flour is incorporated and becomes a smooth dough ball. Add in eggs and stir into dough until it becomes uniform again.
  • Heat up your waffle iron and coat with oil spray. I used a standard round Belgian waffle iron. When waffle iron is hot, take a chunk of dough (approximately 1 1/2 tbsp) and roll it into a ball and press into the center of one of the four sections of the waffle iron.   • Add sugar to a small ziploc bag. If desired, you can also add 1/4 tsp cinnamon. Add a few waffles into the bag and then seal and shake around so that waffles become coated in sugar. Remove and repeat with remaining waffles. Serve while still warm.
