Time 1h40m

Yield 8-10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

Nonstick cooking spray, for the pan
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chunks
2 teaspoons turbinado sugar
1 teaspoon flake salt
Green frosting and sprinkles, to decorate

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder and kosher salt. Add the granulated sugar, melted butter, vanilla and eggs and whisk until a few lumps remain. Stir in the chocolate chunks.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle with the turbinado sugar and flake salt. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs, about 25 minutes. Allow to cool completely in the pan.
  • Cut the brownie in half. Using the tip of a knife, slice in angles making W's with the cut to form triangular pieces. Remove each piece and decorate with frosting and sprinkles as desired.

HOLIDAY TREE BROWNIES

Holiday Tree Brownies image

Cut up brownies to create a fun holiday treat. Decorating is child's play.

Provided by By Betty Crocker Kitchens

Categories     Dessert

Time 2h45m

Yield 15

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Supreme original brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
Miniature candy canes (2 inch), unwrapped
1 or 2 drops green food color
1/3 cup Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy vanilla frosting (from 16-oz container)
Betty Crocker™ Decorating Decors red and green candy sprinkles or miniature candy-coated chocolate baking bits

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Line 9-inch square pan with foil, allowing some to hang over edges of pan. Grease bottom and sides of foil with shortening or cooking spray. Make brownie mix batter as directed on box. Spread in pan.
  • Bake 28 to 31 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool completely on cooling rack, about 1 1/2 hours. Freeze in pan 15 minutes. Using foil to lift, remove brownies from pan, and peel foil away. To cut brownie into triangles, cut into 3 rows. Cut each row into 5 triangles (See More About This Recipe). Set aside leftover pieces for snacking.
  • Break off curved end of candy cane; insert straight piece into bottoms of triangles to make tree trunks.
  • Stir food color into frosting. Spoon frosting into small resealable food-storage plastic bag; partially seal bag. Cut off tiny bottom corner of bag. Squeeze bag to pipe frosting over brownies. Sprinkle with decors.

CHRISTMAS BROWNIES

Christmas Brownies image

Move over sugar cookies, the traditional brownie is here to show off with sweet frosting and candy decorations just in time for the Christmas season! I used the Best Brownies recipe and 1/2 of the Special Buttercream Frosting recipe on this site. I do not suggest using different recipes.
