Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 18

2 cups granulated sugar
1 3/4 cups + 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup oil ((vegetable or canola oil))
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water (, or hot coffee)
1 batch Peanut Butter Frosting
1/2 cup butter ((1 stick), melted)
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (for topping on cake, optional)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Grease two 8-inch round baking pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
  • Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl.
  • Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla and beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the boiling water (your batter will be very thin--that's OK!). Pour batter into prepared cake pans.
  • Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely.
  • Once cakes have cooled, use a sharp serrated knife to cut each cake horizontally in half, so that you end up with four, thin cake rounds.
  • Place one cake layer on serving plate. Smooth 1/3 of the peanut butter frosting on top of that cake layer. Repeat with the remaining cake layers, adding a layer of peanut butter frosting between each layer of cake.

Time 1h45m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 16

Cooking spray, for the pans
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon fine salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup brewed coffee
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
2 pounds confectioners' sugar
1 pound (4 sticks) unsalted butter
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
2 tablespoons milk
Pinch of fine salt

Steps:

  • For the cake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Coat three 6-inch-round cake pans with cooking spray.
  • Sift the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Mix with an electric mixer at medium speed for 1 minute. Add the buttermilk, coffee, vegetable oil and eggs. Mix at medium speed for 1 minute. Scrape the side and bottom of the bowl and mix on medium speed for 1 minute more. Divide the cake batter evenly among the prepared pans. Bake on the top rack until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cakes comes out clean, about 30 minutes.
  • Cool the cakes in the pans for 20 minutes then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  • For the buttercream: Add the confectioners' sugar and butter to a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until completely incorporated, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the peanut butter, milk and salt. Mix on high speed until the mixture becomes fluffy and lighter in color, about 2 minutes. Scrape the side and bottom of the bowl and mix again on high speed for 1 minute.
  • To assemble the cake: Level each cake round with a serrated knife or cake leveler. Use an offset spatula to spread a thin layer of the buttercream on top of one round. Top with a second round and spread it with a thin layer of buttercream. Repeat with the third round, spreading the buttercream on the top and sides of the cake. Smooth with a bench scraper.

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER MARBLE CAKE RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Chocolate Peanut Butter Marble Cake Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by mytastytreasures

Number Of Ingredients 21

Ingredients:
Cake
2 1/4 cups cake flour
2 1/4 teaspoons baking power
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
Frosting:
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted

Steps:

  • Directions: To make the cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour two (9-inch) round cake pans. In medium mixing bowl, sift together cake flour, baking powder and salt. In a large mixing bowl, using a mixer on medium speed, beat together butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until creamy, about 1-2 minutes. Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined, about 1 minute. Reduce mixer speed to low and beat in flour mixture, alternating with milk, until combined, about 2 minutes; remove half of the batter and place in medium mixing bowl. Beat peanut butter into one of the bowls filled with batter until combined. Beat melted chocolate into the other bowl filled with batter until combined. Divide peanut butter batter into each cake pan, placing only on one side. Divide chocolate batter into each cake pan, on the opposite side; swirl batters together using a butter knife. Bake for 35 minutes or until well risen and a toothpick inserted into cake comes out with moist crumbs attached. Cool for 12 minutes, on a wire rack, before running a knife around outside edges and inverting onto wire racks to cool completely For frosting: To make the frosting: In a small saucepan, whisk together sugar, flour, cocoa, salt and milk; bring to a boil, whisking frequently. Boil 1 minute or until thickened; remove pan from heat and strain mixture into a small bowl. Cool completely in the refrigerator or freezer. Beat the butter until creamy, about 1 minute, in a large mixing bowl, using a mixer on medium speed. Beat in "chocolate pudding" mixture until well combined, about 1 minute. Beat in melted chocolate until well combined and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Spread frosting onto cake layers.

CHOCOLATE-PEANUT BUTTER CHEESECAKE WITH CHOCOLATE GLAZE

Chocolate-Peanut Butter Cheesecake with Chocolate Glaze image

This cheesecake is a fresh take on a familiar combination. It's not too sweet and has a voluptuous consistency. The glossy chocolate glaze goes on like satin.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Dessert & Treats Recipes     Cake Recipes

Time 9h

Number Of Ingredients 12

Vegetable-oil cooking spray
1 cup finely ground chocolate wafer cookies (4 ounces)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons sugar
4 ounces semisweet chocolate (55 to 61 percent cacao), finely chopped
4 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, room temperature
1 1/2 cups sugar
Pinch of coarse salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
4 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
Chocolate Glaze

Steps:

  • Crust: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Wrap bottom and outside of a 9-inch springform pan with a double layer of foil. Coat bottom of pan with cooking spray, and line with parchment. Spray parchment.
  • Stir together cookie crumbs, butter, and sugar in a medium bowl. Press mixture firmly into bottom of pan, and bake until firm, about 10 minutes. Let cool completely in pan on wire rack.
  • Filling: Melt chocolate in a bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water. Let cool. Beat cream cheese with a mixer on medium speed until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Reduce speed to low, and beat in sugar in a slow, steady stream until combined. Beat in salt and vanilla until thoroughly combined and completely smooth. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until combined after each addition (do not overmix).
  • Divide cream-cheese filling in half. Stir peanut butter into 1 half; stir melted chocolate into other half. Ladle 1 cup peanut butter filling into center of crust, and tap pan gently on counter to settle. Ladle 1 cup chocolate filling directly on top of peanut butter filling. Repeat, then switching to half-cup amounts, continue to ladle fillings into crust, alternating them until all of each filling is used.
  • Bring a kettle of water to a boil. Set cake pan in a large roasting pan, and transfer to oven. Carefully pour boiling water into roasting pan to reach halfway up sides of cake pan. Bake until cake is set but still slightly wobbly in center, about 1 hour 20 minutes. Let cool completely in pan on wire rack. Refrigerate cake in pan until cold, at least 6 hours, up to overnight. Before unmolding, run a knife around edge of cake. Pour glaze over top of cake, smoothing with an offset spatula and letting it drip down the sides.
