This is one recipe I always take to potlucks, after seeing it in a magazine some years ago. They are dead easy to make and disappear so quickly!

Number Of Ingredients 14

3/4 cup butter or 3/4 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons baking cocoa powder
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
4 cups miniature marshmallows
1 1/3 cups chocolate chips
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine
1 cup peanut butter
2 cups crisp rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies)

Steps:

  • Cream butter and sugar together in a bowl.
  • Add eggs and vanilla, beating until fluffy.
  • Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, stiring in nuts, if desired.
  • Spread in a greased jelly roll pan.
  • Bake at 350 F for 15-18 minutes.
  • Remove pan from oven and sprinkle marshmallows evenly over the base.
  • Return to the oven for 2-3 minutes.
  • Then take a knife, dipped in warm water, and spread the melted marshmallows evenly.
  • Cool.
  • For topping, mix chocolate chips, butter and peanut butter in a small saucepan.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted and mixed.
  • Remove from heat, stir in cereal, and spread over bars.
  • Chill in fridge until cool and ready to cut.

  • Add eggs and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa; add to creamed mixture.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Spread in a greased 15x10-inch pan.
  • Bake at 350°F for 15-18 minutes.
  • Sprinkle marshmallows evenly over cake; bake 2-3 minutes longer.
  • Using a knife, dipped in water, spread the melted marshmallows evenly over cake; cool.
  • For topping: combine chocolate chips, butter and peanut butter in a small saucepan.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted and well blended.
  • Remove from heat; stir in cereal.
  • Spread immediately over bars.
  • Chill.
  • Cut into squares and serve.

3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup nuts
4 cups miniature marshmallows
1 1/3 cups chocolate chips
1 cup peanut butter
3 tablespoons butter
2 cups Rice Krispies

Steps:

  • In a bowl cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy.
  • In a separate bowl combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts (optional).
  • Spread in greased 15x10x1 inch pan. Bake at 350° for 15-18 minutes.
  • Sprinkle marshmallows evenly over cake; return to oven for 2-3 minutes.
  • Using a knife dipped in water, spread the marshmallows evenly over the cake. Cool.
  • Topping:.
  • For topping combine chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in a small saucepan.
  • Cook over low heat stirring constantly until blended. Remove from heat and stir in rice krispies. Spread over bars. Chill. Makes 3 dozen
  • DECADENT bars!

1 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1-1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in the marshmallows, chips and walnuts. , Spread into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

  • For the topping, combine the chips, butter and peanut butter in a medium saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted and well-blended. Remove from heat and stir in the Rice Krispies. Spread evenly over bars.
