- Place the dark chocolate in a medium microwave-safe bowl and melt the chocolate in the microwave. Set aside while you prepare the fruit.. Peel the tangerines or mandarin oranges and separate into slices. Dip the whole slice in the melted chocolate. Let some of the excess chocolate drip off, then place on a piece of wax or parchment paper until the chocolate has set.. Once set, serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

- In a medium saucepan, bring the sugar and water to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently until the sugar is dissolved. Gently layer the tangerine slices into the sugar mixture.
- Cover and simmer 10 minutes, stirring once. Remove from the heat and take off the lid. Let the tangerine slices cool in the syrup mixture for 10 minutes.
- Gently lift the tangerine slices with two forks, allowing the syrup to drain off. Transfer to a wire cooling rack or parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Let stand at room temperature overnight to dry. Reserve the syrup mixture for another use.
- In a 1-cup microwave-safe glass measuring cup, place chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave uncovered on High 30 seconds; stir. Microwave 15 seconds longer; stir until smooth. Cool 15 minutes before dipping tangerine slices.
