CHERRY CHOCOLATE NUT BARS RECIPE
Cherry chocolate nut bars are the perfect treat. They have all of the crunch along with sweet and chewy marshmallow textures.

Steps:
- Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter on low in the microwave. Stir well and add the chopped peanuts. Spread half of this mixture in a 9 x 13 inch glass pan sprayed very lightly with non stick cooking spray. Place in fridge to set up.
- Melt marshmallows in the microwave on very low stirring every 20 seconds. When melted and smooth, stir in the frosting.
- Spread this mixture carefully on top of the chocolate layer. Let cool in the fridge.
- Top with remaining chocolate for the last layer. If it has set up a little, just microwave it for about 30 seconds and stir well. Be sure to spread each layer to the edges of the pan.
- Refrigerate until firm. Cut into pieces - about 48.
- Store in refrigerator.

Dawn is right! Move over chocolate covered cherries, this is one good cookie. When you combine all the ingredients, the flavors work so well together. I especially like the addition of pecans ... it gives each bite a little crunch.

- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2. In large bowl, cream butter well. Add sugar, vanilla and salt.
- 3. Gradually add flour, mixing until well blended-batter gets stiff.
- 4. Mix in chocolate chips, nuts and cherries.
- 5. Drop by teaspoonful or grab chunks and roll into balls. Place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Slightly flatten with fingertip. Bake about 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
- 6. After removing from oven, while still warm top with Hershey Kiss or the new cherry filled Hershey Kisses work well with this recipe. Bake another minute.

- Heat oven to 350°F. In small bowl, mix flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; set aside.
- In 2-quart saucepan, heat butter and 1 cup of the chocolate chips over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted. Remove from heat; stir in sugar. Pour into large bowl. Beat in eggs one at a time until blended. Beat in vanilla. Stir in flour mixture until well blended. Stir in 1 cup of the chocolate chips and the cherries. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.
- Shape dough into 60 (about 1 1/4-inch) balls. Lightly butter hands if dough is sticky when shaping into balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets; flatten each ball to 1 1/2-inch circle.
- Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are set. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
- In small microwavable bowl, microwave remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips uncovered on High 30 to 60 seconds, stirring halfway through, until chips can be stirred smooth. Spoon into resealable food-storage plastic bag; partially seal bag. Cut small tip from corner of bag; drizzle chocolate over tops of cookies. Let stand about 2 hours or until chocolate is set. - Cream shortening and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer until well blended.
