Popcorn Balls are a fun and delicious way to celebrate the season. This simple recipe is a great base for so many flavor combinations - the possibilities are endless!

3 quarts (12 cups) popped popcorn
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup Karo® Light OR Dark Corn Syrup
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 tablespoons festive sprinkles, optional

Steps:

  • Spray large roasting pan sprayed lightly with nonstick cooking spray; add popcorn and place in 300ºF oven until warm.
  • Combine sugar, corn syrup, butter and salt in a heavy 2-quart saucepan. Stirring constantly, bring to boil over medium heat. Continue stirring and boil 2 minutes.
  • Remove syrup mixture from heat; stir in vanilla and baking soda.
  • Pour syrup mixture over warm popcorn stirring to coat well. Add in sprinkles and mix to combine.
  • Once mixture has cooled slightly and is able to be touched, spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray. Working quickly to shape twelve 3-inch popcorn balls.
  • Cool completely. Wrap individually in plastic wrap.

These fast easy popcorn balls are the most simple recipe you'll ever need. They are soft and chewy. Colored and flavored with jello mix with a gummy worm rolled in makes they a great addition to Halloween treats.

12 cups prepared Popcorn
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) Unsalted Butter
1 10-ounce package Mini Marshmallows
1 3-ounce package Green Jello ((not prepared))
15 Gummy Worms

Steps:

  • Line a large baking sheet (or two) with wax or parchment paper.
  • Put the prepared popcorn in a very large mixing bowl.
  • Place the butter and mini marshmallows in a large non-metal bowl and microwave on high until the marshmallows are puffy (1 ½-2 minutes).
  • Spray a silicon spoon or spatula with non-stick spray and stir the jello mix into the marshmallow mixture to fully combine.
  • Spoon the marshmallow mixture into the popcorn and stir to fully coat the popcorn.
  • Spray hands with non-stick cooking spray and roll the popcorn mixture into balls approximately 3-inches in diameter. Roll a gummy worm into each ball so it sticks out.
  • Place the balls on the prepared pan(s) to set. NOTE: if the balls begin to separate before setting due to the position of the gummy worm, squeeze the ball together and allow to set.
  • Once fully set wrap with plastic wrap and store at room temperature.

1 cup sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Food coloring, optional

Steps:

  • Place popcorn in a large baking pan; keep warm in a 200° oven. , In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water and salt. Cook over medium heat until a candy thermometer reads 235° (soft-ball stage). , Remove from the heat. Add the butter, vanilla and food coloring if desired; stir until butter is melted. Immediately pour over popcorn and stir until evenly coated. , When mixture is cool enough to handle, quickly shape into 3-in. balls, dipping hands in cold water to prevent sticking.

10-12 cups popped popcorn (, I used skinny pop)
1/2 cup butter (, cut into pieces )
1 cup light brown sugar (, packed )
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch salt

Steps:

  • Lay a piece of wax or parchment paper on the counter or on a baking sheet. Place popped popcorn in a large bowl. Set aside.
  • Place butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in a microwave safe bowl. Cook for one minute. Stir and cook two additional minutes for chewy popcorn balls. If you like crunchy popcorn balls, cook an additional minute. Remove from microwave. Stir in vanilla and baking soda.
  • Pour caramel over popcorn and stir until well coated. Allow to cool slightly.
  • Grease hands with butter (or use wax paper or gloves) and shape the popcorn into 2-inch balls. Wrap each ball with plastic wrap or store in a zip top bag or airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

½ cup unpopped popcorn

Steps:

  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Set aside.
  • Add vegetable oil to a 4 quart saucepan, and heat over high heat. When oil is hot, add popping corn. Keep pan moving constantly. When corn stops popping, remove from heat. Put popcorn in prepared pan.
  • Melt butter In a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir in marshmallows and cook until melted, stirring constantly. Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn and mix with spoon to coat evenly.

food coloring
6 cups plain popped popcorn

Steps:

  • Melt margarine in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add in marshmallows and stir continuously until smooth.
  • Add in food coloring until desired color.
  • Add in vanilla (be careful it doesn't splash on you when it hits the hot marshmallow mixture).
  • Stir in popcorn and turn heat to low.
  • Scoop out 6 piles of popcorn mixture and place in piles on waxed paper. Allow to cool until comfortable to touch, but still pliable.
  • Shape into popcorn balls.

  • Shape into balls and lay on waxed paper. Wrap and store.
