I was about to make Sheri D's Amaretto Sourcream Strawberries #161835, when my mom stopped by with 3 pounds of fresh Bing Cherries from Eastern Washington. She makes the 5 hour drive annually in July just to get fresh cherries and stock up on wine for the year! She saw what I was making and suggested the following recipes for the cherries. I don't care for the taste of powdered sugar, and I don't think the recipe needs it, so I don't use it, but you decide. These are so simple, elegant (except for spitting out the pits) and yummy! Enjoy!!

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs fresh cherries (leave any stems on)
1/2 pint light sour cream
3 tablespoons Amaretto (up to 4 tablespoons)
1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional)
1/3 cup light brown sugar

Steps:

Mix sour cream and Amaretto. Add more Amaretto to taste if needed.
If desired, add powdered sugar to mixture.
Place sour cream mixture into small "dipping" dish.
Place brown sugar into second small "dipping" dish.
Dip cherries in sour cream and then the brown sugar.
Eat and enjoy!

This is what a friend of mine and I cooked up to serve over fresh fruit for dessert or can be served for brunch. Yum!

3 cups sour cream
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/8-1/4 cup Amaretto
toasted and slivered almonds, garnish

Steps:

Mix together and put in the refrigerator for a couple of hours(if you have the time) so that the flavors can marry.
Garnish with slivered almonds.
Serve over fresh fruit.

Steps:

In a large bowl, combine the sour cream, brown sugar and crumbled cookies. Cover and refrigerate for 12 hours or overnight. Serve with fruit and macaroons.

Another of my original baking recipes (bet u could tell because it contains spirits :P) This is the most requested muffin in my house. There are just so many layers of flavor to them! You can make these as regular or gourmet size -either way they are delicious. Enjoy!

2 c all purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 c dried cherries, snipped
1 large egg
3 Tbsp canola oil
1 c skim milk
3 Tbsp applesauce
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 Tbsp amaretto liquer

Steps:

1. While preheating oven to 400 degrees, sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in brown sugar and dried cherries.
2. In a separate bowl, beat egg lightly and then beat in milk, oil, vanilla extract, amaretto and applesauce. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in egg mix, stirring to just mix. Bake for 20 mins.
