Chive and Onion Yogurt and Cream Cheese Spread image

A delicious, homemade version of the new yogurt and cream cheese spreads in the grocery store. If Greek yogurt is not available, hang your yogurt in a cheesecloth over the sink to drain overnight.

5 green onions, chopped
3 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
2 teaspoons dried chives
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 (12 ounce) container whipped cream cheese
¾ cup Greek-style yogurt

Steps:

  • In the container of a food processor, combine the green onions, fresh chives, dried chives, onion powder, cream cheese and yogurt. Pulse until blended, but the onions and chives should be in chunks. Transfer to a container, and refrigerate overnight before serving.

1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
8 oz. mafalda (mini lasagna noodles), uncooked
1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, well drained
1/2 cup (1/2 of 8-oz. tub) PHILADELPHIA Chive & Onion Cream Cheese Spread
1/2 cup fat-free reduced-sodium chicken broth
1/4 cup KRAFT Real Mayo Mayonnaise
1 cup KRAFT Shredded Triple Cheddar Cheese with a TOUCH OF PHILADELPHIA

Steps:

  • Cook chicken and noodles in large pan of boiling water 8 min. or until chicken is done and noodles are tender, adding spinach to the boiling water for the last 6 min.; drain. Return chicken mixture to pan.
  • Add cream cheese spread, broth and mayo; cook on medium-low heat 5 min. or until cream cheese is completely melted and sauce is well blended, stirring constantly.
  • Add cheddar cheese; cook and stir 1 min. or until melted.

1 tub (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Chive & Onion Cream Cheese Spread
1/2 cup KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
14 slices whole wheat sandwich bread, crusts trimmed
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Mix cream cheese spread and cheddar until blended.
  • Flatten bread slices with rolling pin; spread with butter. Turn over; spread with cream cheese mixture. Roll up tightly; cut in half. Roll, 1 piece at a time, in Parmesan until evenly coated. Place on baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake 12 to 14 min. or until golden brown.

1 brown onion, thinly sliced
2 cups grated cheese
2 tablespoons chives, chopped
8 slices white bread

Steps:

  • Heat frypan over high heat, ad oil and onion.
  • Cook about 6 minutes till well browned, seta side to cool.
  • In a small bowl, combine cheese, chives and onion.
  • Divide this between 4 slices bread.
  • Top with remaining bread and place in heated jaffle iron.
  • Cook over low flame for 2 minutes till golden.
  • OR use sandwich maker according to instruction booklet.
