3 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 (12 ounce) bottle beer (Non-Alcoholic or Light Beer may be substituted)
3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, melted

Steps:

  • Stir together first 5 ingredients; pour into a lightly greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
  • Bake at 350 for 35 minutes.
  • Pour melted butter over top.
  • Bake 10 more minutes.

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Fit an 8" x 4" loaf pan with parchment paper or spray liberally with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, chives and cheddar cheese. Add in the warmed honey and beer. Stir until well-combined, but don't overmix. Some lumps are fine.
  • Pour mixture into the prepared loaf pan, and bake in preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the middle is solid. With 10 minutes left in baking, remove the bread from the oven, and drizzle the melted butter on top.
