Ingredients

1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon celery seed
1/8 teaspoon ground mustard
1/8 teaspoon grated onion
Mixed salad greens

Steps:

In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine the first eight ingredients; shake well. Serve over salad greens.

Have had this recipe for quite a while. Just recently it was served (by a caterer) at a luncheon I was at. They also added chinese noodles which gave it a wonderful crunch. I think that I will try it with candied pecans the next time I make it.

Ingredients

1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 of an onion, grated (recipe did not stipulate size of onion)
1/3 cup vinegar
1 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon celery seed

Steps:

Combine the sugar, mustard, salt and onion.
Add the vinegar and olive oil and beat well till combined.
Add celery seeds and whisk all together to blend.

Mince and mash garlic to a paste with 1/4 teaspoon salt, then whisk together with celery seeds, vinegar, and oil in a large bowl. Add lettuce and toss to coat.
