This quick, easy bread is a family favorite with just about any Italian meal.-Norma Erne, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
4 hot dog rolls, sliced

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine butter, celery seed, paprika and parsley flakes, stirring well to blend. Spread on cut sides of each roll. Place on baking sheet; broil until golden brown.

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 unsliced loaf of white bread (choose one as square as possible)
¼ cup melted butter
1 tsp celery seed (plus extra for sprinkling)

Steps:

  • Cut crust off all sides of bread including the bottom. Slice lengthwise through the middle, then into sections ending with about 10 cubes.
  • Melt butter. Stir in celery seeds.
  • Brush liberally over all surfaces of each cube. Sprinkle more celery seed over any areas that have little seeds.
  • Put bread cubes back into plastic bag and seal up tightly. Refrigerate over night or at least all day for best results.
  • Arrange cubes in a bundle in a baking dish. Allow them to fall open to expose as much area as possible.
  • Bake on the centre rack of a preheated oven at 400° for about 10 minutes or until bread is lightly toasted.

I love celery and this bread fits the bill. It's great toasted. I love to make my tuna fish sandwiches on this. It has a nice light texture. I found the recipe somewhere on the internet. It makes a 1 1/2 pound loaf. Cook time is approximate time for the bread machine.

1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of celery soup
3 tablespoons low-fat milk, heated
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 1/4 teaspoons celery, garlic or 1 1/4 teaspoons onion salt
3/4 cup celery, fresh/slice thin
1 tablespoon celery leaves, fresh/chopped (optional)
1 egg
3 cups bread flour
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
2 tablespoons gluten
2 teaspoons celery seeds
1 package active dry yeast (any kind)

Steps:

  • Add all the ingredients in the order listed.
  • Select white bread and push"Start.
  • "I use a Breadman Ultimate machine and I set it for a 1-1/2 pound loaf/light crust/white bread.

BRAISED CELERY WITH LENTILS AND GARLIC



Braised Celery With Lentils and Garlic image

Pan-searing, then quickly braising celery and garlic in wine and broth turns into a warming meal with the addition of make-ahead marinated lentils. Top it with an egg and add some crusty bread for a surprisingly luxurious, almost all-pantry dish.

¼ cup plus 1 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 bunch celery, leaves reserved, stalks sliced ½" thick on a diagonal
6-8 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 tsp. kosher salt, plus more
½ cup dry white wine or dry vermouth
A small handful hardy herb sprigs (such as rosemary, thyme, and/or sage; optional)
2½ cups low-sodium beef, chicken, or vegetable broth
2 cups Big-Batch Marinated Lentils
4 large eggs
Flaky sea salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Crusty bread (for serving; optional)

Steps:

  • Heat ¼ cup oil in a large high-sided skillet over medium-high. Add celery and toss to coat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until celery is very lightly browned, about 5 minutes, then add garlic and toss to coat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until garlic is deep golden brown and celery is tender and golden brown, 5-7 minutes. Mix in 1 tsp. kosher salt, then add wine and herbs (if using) and stir to combine. Cook until wine is reduced by half, about 2 minutes. Add broth and bring to a boil; stir in lentils. Cook until lentils are warmed through and flavors have come together, about 5 minutes. Taste and season with more kosher salt if needed. Fish out herb sprigs if using and discard.
  • Heat remaining 1 Tbsp. oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium. Crack eggs into skillet and cover with a lid (or a baking sheet if you don't have one), reduce heat to low, and cook just until egg whites are set but yolks are still runny, about 3 minutes.
  • Divide braised celery mixture among bowls. Top each with an egg and some celery leaves; sprinkle with sea salt and pepper. Serve with crusty bread, if desired.

1/2 cup butter, divided
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
1 cup heavy whipping cream
3/4 cup shredded Swiss cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Dash ground nutmeg
8 celery ribs, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 cup chopped celery leaves
6 slices white bread, crusts removed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°. In a large saucepan, melt 6 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Stir in flour until smooth; gradually whisk in milk and cream. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir until thickened, 3-4 minutes. Stir in cheese, salt, pepper and nutmeg until combined. Stir in celery and leaves; transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish., Tear bread into pieces and place in a food processor or blender. Cover and pulse until crumbs form. Transfer to a large bowl. Melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Drizzle over bread crumbs; toss to coat. Sprinkle over celery mixture., Bake until bubbly and topping is golden brown, 25-30 minutes. If desired, sprinkle with additional celery leaves.

1 (1 pound) loaf sliced white bread
¾ cup butter or margarine
1 onion, chopped
4 stalks celery, chopped
2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup chicken broth

Steps:

  • Let bread slices air dry for 1 to 2 hours, then cut into cubes.
  • In a Dutch oven, melt butter or margarine over medium heat. Cook onion and celery until soft. Season with poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir in bread cubes until evenly coated. Moisten with chicken broth; mix well.
  • Chill, and use as a stuffing for turkey, or bake in a buttered casserole dish at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 40 minutes.
