Yield 14

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup margarine
½ cup shortening
3 cups white sugar
5 eggs
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup self-rising flour
1 cup evaporated milk
1 tablespoon lemon extract

  • In a large bowl, cream together the margarine, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Alternately beat in the flour mixture and the milk, mixing just until incorporated. Finally, stir in the lemon extract and vanilla.
  • Pour batter into a 10 inch tube or Bundt pan. Place cake in cool oven and set oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK POUND CAKE

Sweetened Condensed Milk Pound Cake image

I love sweetened condensed milk--I could eat the whole can with a spoon. The recipe is original (from me). It is delicious!

Time 2h

Yield 1 Cake, 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/4 cups butter (not light) or 2 1/2 sticks regular margarine (not light)
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 (12 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
6 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla

Steps:

  • Prepare your cake pan. Coat with shortening and flour. I use a very old aluminum "tube" pan. The hole is smaller than the newer ones, but use pan of your choice.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Beat butter and sugar at high speed until soft and smooth. (I use a heavy-duty Kitchen Aid mixer).
  • Add condensed milk and beat until well blended.
  • Add eggs, one at a time and beat well after each addition.
  • Combine flour, baking powder and salt and add one cup at a time and beat well.
  • Add vanilla and beat well.
  • Bake 1 hour and 30 minutes. I put aluminum foil around my pan so the crust won't get too dark. Also the last 20-30 minutes I lay foil over top to prevent the crust from being too dark.
  • Alow to cool for 30 minutes before removing from pan.
  • Enjoy.

CARNATION POUND CAKE (#11)

Carnation Pound Cake (#11) image

This recipe comes from a 1968 recipe book titled,"Favorite Recipes From Church of GOD Ladies". Each of the recipes has the ladies' name and home town and I will include this with the recipe and if you know or are related to this person, I would really like to know. The recipes I post from this cookbook are ones I have tried and really like or are unusual due to ingredients or possibly due to the number of recipes with the same name but are different in some way. I hope you enjoy. I know some the recipes are really lacking in some or all areas, but I am posting them as they are in the cookbook
