This recipe is so good and easy. I keep on misplacing my recipe card so I thought I should post while I know where it is. I think everyone who likes caramel will love them.

2 cups flour
3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 large egg, beaten
3/4 cup cold butter or 3/4 cup margarine
3/4 cup nuts, chopped
24 caramels, unwrapped
1 (14 ounce) can condensed milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • In a large bowl combine flour, brown sugar and egg.
  • Cut in 1/2 cup butter.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Reserve 2 cups of crumb mixture.
  • Press remaining mixtuew firmly in bottom of greased 9 x 13" pan, I use Pam baking spray.
  • Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven.
  • In a heavy saucepan over low heat, melt caramels, condensed milk and 1/4 cup remaining butter.
  • Cook until smooth.
  • Pour over crust.
  • Sprinkle evenlly with remaining crumbs.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until bubbly.
  • Cool. Cut into bars.
  • Store loosely covered at room temperature.

I could not get Zaar to accept Pillsbury Crescent Recipe Creations refrigerated flaky dough sheet - these are newer in the refrigerated dough section. This recipe is from Pillsbury. A nice, easy and quick recipe for those times you need a dessert in under a hour. We had them plain but would also be nice with ice cream or whipped topping on top.

8 ounces pastry dough, sheet (Pillsbury Crescent Recipe Creations refrigerated flaky dough sheet, see description above)
3 cups chopped peeled cooking apples (I used 3 green medium apples)
1/2 cup caramel topping
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Spray 13 x 9 inch (3 quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Unroll dough; press in bottom and 1/2 inch up sides of pan.
  • Sprinkle apples over dough.
  • In 1 quart saucepan, heat caramel topping and 1/4 cup flour to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  • Drizzle over apples.
  • In medium bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, oats and cinnamon.
  • With pastry blender, cut in butter, until mixture looks like fine crumbs.
  • Sprinkle evenly over apples.
  • Sprinkle pecans evenly over top.
  • Bake 18 to 22 minutes or until top is golden brown and apples are tender.

2 1/4 cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
1 1/3 cups quick-cooking oats
2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 cup cold butter, cut up
5 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1 (14 oz.) can Eagle Brand® Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 (12 1/4 oz.) jar Smucker's® Caramel Flavored Topping, divided
1 cup chopped walnuts
Vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • HEAT oven to 350 degrees F. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg in large bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 3/4 cups crumb mixture; press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Bake 15 minutes.
  • ARRANGE apples over partially baked crust. Mix sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup caramel topping until blended. Pour evenly over apples. Add walnuts to reserved crumb mixture; sprinkle over apple layer.
  • BAKE 45 to 50 minutes or until apples are tender. Cool in pan on wire rack. Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream and remaining caramel topping.

1 cup unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
16 ounces cream cheese, softened (2-8 oz packages)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped
1/2 cup sugar, divided
2 tablespoons sugar, divided
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1/2 cup caramel topping
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour and brown sugar.
  • Cut in butter with a pastry blender or two forks until mixture is crumbly.
  • Press evenly into a 13 by 9 by 2-inch baking pan lined with heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  • Bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese with 1/2 cup sugar with an electric mixer at medium speed until smooth.
  • Then add eggs, one at a time, and vanilla.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Pour over warm crust.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the chopped apples, 2 tablespoons sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Spoon evenly over cream cheese mixture.
  • Sprinkle evenly with Streusel topping.
  • Bake 30 minutes, or until filling is set.
  • Drizzle with caramel topping.
  • MAKE STRUSEL TOPPING:.
  • In a small bowl, combine all ingredients.
