Per Google.com, the #1 recipe for Beer Bread in the world! There are a few recipes for beer bread out there, but none as simple (and tasty!) as this one. You can even mix it in the baking pan for easy cleanup. This is sensational when served with soups or just as a snack, but don't expect it to be around very long when your family gets a taste of it! Be sure to use a sheet pan on the shelf below the pan to catch any excess butter that may drip during cooking.

3 cups flour (sifted)
3 teaspoons baking powder (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
1 teaspoon salt (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
1/4 cup sugar
1 (12 ounce) can beer
1/2 cup melted butter (1/4 cup will do just fine)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Mix dry ingredients and beer.
  • Pour into a greased loaf pan.
  • Pour melted butter over mixture.
  • Bake 1 hour, remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes.
  • UPDATED NOTES: This recipe makes a very hearty bread with a crunchy, buttery crust. If you prefer a softer crust (like a traditional bread) mix the butter into the batter instead of pouring it over the top.
  • Sifting flour for bread recipes is a must-do. Most people just scoop the 1 cup measure in the flour canister and level it off. That compacts the flour and will turn your bread into a "hard biscuit" as some have described. That's because they aren't sifting their flour! If you do not have a sifter, use a spoon to spoon the flour into the 1 cup measure. Try it once the "correct" way and you will see an amazing difference in the end product.
  • I have had many email from you kind folks about using non-alcoholic beverages instead of beer. That is fine to do but I highly recommend adding a packet of Dry Active Yeast or 2 teaspoons of Bread (Machine) Yeast so that you get a proper rise.
  • The final result should be a thick, hearty and very tasteful bread, NOT A BRICK! ;).

3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 bottle (12 ounces) beer
1 stick unsalted butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Line with parchment paper for easy removal (optional). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Using a wooden spoon, stir the beer into the dry ingredients until just mixed. Pour half the melted butter into the bottom of the loaf pan. Then spoon the batter into the pan, and pour the rest of the butter on top of the batter. Place loaf pan on cookie sheet in case there is any butter that spills over as it bakes. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve immediately with a smear of more butter, or reheat in the microwave for 20 seconds.

1 12 ounce can or bottle of beer
1 stick butter, melted

Steps:

  • Instructions 1.Preheat oven to 375°F 2.In a medium bowl and using a wire whisk, sift together all dry ingredients. 3.Add beer and stir with a wooden spoon until well incorporated. 4.Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and pour beer bread batter into pan. 5.Pour melted butter over the top of the beer bread batter. 6.Bake for 1 hour. 7.Remove from oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from pan.

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 TBS sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 TBS baking powder
dash salt
2 TBS vegetable oil
1 12 oz bottle beer
1 TBS butter (melted)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 ° and grease a loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl add the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Whisk until all these ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Add the beer bread and then the oil to the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
  • Turn the batter out into the greased loaf pan and drizzle the melted butter on top of the batter.
  • Bake for 45 minutes until the crust is deep golden brown and the bread is done.
  • Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Then turn the loaf out and cool on the wire rack.
  • Slice and enjoy!

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F In a mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Add the beer all at once, mixing as little as possible; the batter should be lumpy.
  • Pour the batter into a 9-x-5-x-3-inch loaf pan and brush with the melted butter. Bake in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until an inserted skewer comes out clean. Turn out onto a rack to cool.

1/4 cup honey*
1 bottle (12 ounces) beer
1/4 cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt until combined. Slowly pour the beer and honey into the flour mixture, and stir until combined.
  • Pour half of the melted butter into the bottom of a 9×5-inch bread pan, and brush it around to grease the inside of the pan. Add the batter and spread it out in an even layer. Then brush the remaining melted butter evenly on top of the batter.
  • Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, until a toothpick or knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. Remove and transfer the pan to a wire baking rack and let the bread cool for at least 10 minutes.
  • Slice with a bread knife, serve warm and enjoy!
