GRANDMA'S BUTTERSCOTCH CANDY
The recipe for this wonderfully buttery candy was handed down from my grandma. My brothers, sisters and I love it now as much as we did when we were little...and so do our families. It's become a cherished tradition.

Steps:
- 1. Melt butterscotch morsels over medium heat. Grandma used a double boiler. You can use the microwave. Stir in peanuts and noodles. Spoon by tablespoons full onto wax paper. Use spoon to shape into haystacks and allow to cool.
HOME
Steps:
- Line trays with wax paper.
- Microwave morsels in large, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on MEDIUM-HIGH (70%) power for 1 minute; stir. The morsels may retain some of their original shape. If necessary, microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until morsels are melted. Stir in peanut butter until well blended. Add chow mein noodles and marshmallows; toss until all ingredients are coated. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto prepared trays. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Double Boiler Method: Place morsels in top of double boiler over hot (not boiling) water. Do not cover. When most of the morsels are shiny, stir just until melted. (Prevent water from coming in contact with morsels.) Remove from heat; stir in peanut butter. Transfer to large bowl. Add chow mein noodles and marshmallows; proceed as above.

- Melt butterscotch morsels over hot water and stir in peanut butter OR use the microwave in 15-30 second increments to melt morsels and peanut butter together. (I used the microwave because it was quicker and less likely for me to burn the butterscotch!)
- Line a tray with wax paper and drop a tablespoon or so of the mixture onto the tray to make each haystack. (you can make these treats as big or as small as you like but you need a bit of the mixture there to hold everything together.)
