Homemade Syrup {Butter Syrup} image

Homemade syrup is easy to make and so delicious! This recipe turns out every time. It's buttery, and thick and has a unique flavor twist!

1/2 cup butter (one stick)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons almond extract (can substitute vanilla extract)

Steps:

  • Add butter, sugar, milk, and honey to a 2.5 quart saucepan (see note).
  • Bring to a rolling boil (see note) and boil for 2 minutes.
  • Off heat, add baking soda and almond extract.
  • Whisk to mix together, the syrup will bubble and foam vigorously.
  • Let rest for a few minutes to let the foam settle down.
  • Serve warm or cold.
  • Store in an airtight container (like a mason jar) in the fridge, reheating and stirring before use to melt and combine.

This sweet and creamy butter is great on sweet potatoes, waffles, and French toast. This butter is the only way I can get my husband to eat sweet potatoes!

1 cup butter, softened
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup maple syrup
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mix together the butter, brown sugar, maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice until well blended. Chill in the refrigerator, for about 30 minutes. Form into a roll using waxed paper and store wrapped. It can be frozen for later at this point if desired.

1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon maple-flavored extract

Steps:

  • Heat brown sugar, water, white sugar, butter, and maple extract in a saucepan over medium-high heat; boil until thickened, about 3 minutes.

RICH BUTTERED SUGAR FREE MAPLE SYRUP



Rich Buttered Sugar Free Maple Syrup image

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 cup xylitol -stevia alone will not work in this syrup you need volume
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon butter (you can add extra for S pancakes or waffles, help it not crystalize)
*1 teaspoon maple flavoring
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum (this syrup will continue to thicken as it cools the butter aids in that process)
1 pinch mineral salt
Optional 1/4 tsp high quality stevia to make it just a bit sweeter without adding more xylitol
Personal choice! I like to add 1 tsp blackstrap molasses to this syrup. It helps it taste richer and keeps it from crystalizing even better than the butter alone.

Steps:

  • Bring the butter, xylitol, and water to a boil and reduce the heat to medium so it will boil at a slow boil for 3 minutes (be sure and time this as soon as it starts to boil).
  • Remove from the heat and add the flavorings and sprinkle the xanthan gum on carefully and whisk immediately. Set the syrup aside while you make your pancakes or waffles and it will continue to thicken a bit as it cools.
  • This syrup is perfect when served fresh and warm, but will sometimes begin to crisp up as it cools (this time varies from 2 or 3 hours to a full day and I have no idea why).
  • Just be sure and pour it into a jar that you can dip from and a brief microwave heating in a small dish will bring it right back to a syrupy state again when you're ready for it.
  • Update: I've found that adding the 1 tsp blackstrap molasses to this syrup is a big help in keeping it from crystalizing for some reason. Technically this ingredient is on plan but be careful as it does add 5 gms of carbs to this syrup which will normally serve 6.

Steps:

  • Dice kumara into 2 cm slices.
  • Combine kumara with oil in baking dish.
  • Bake, uncovered in moderate oven for 30 minutes.
  • Increase oven temp to hot.
  • Drizzle kumara with combined syrup and butter.
  • Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, turning vegetables over once.

  • In a medium saucepan, add maple syrup and pinch of salt and cinnamon. Heat maple syrup over high heat until boiling (*be sure to use a large-ish pan, as syrup will boil up about double or more). Attach or insert thermometer and boil until syrup reaches 240° Immediately remove from heat and stir in butter until it's completely melted.
  • Pour mixture into the bowl of a stand mixer or alternately, use a large bowl with a hand mixer. Start on low speed and gradually increase speed until you reach high.
