Time 2h

Yield 28 finger cookies

Number Of Ingredients 10

Vegetable oil cooking spray
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon fine salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
28 large sliced almonds
1/2 cup raspberry jam

Steps:

  • Place an oven rack in the center of the oven. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Spray a rimmed baking sheet with vegetable oil cooking spray or line with a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, scraping down the sides of the bowl with a spatula as needed, about 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth. Gradually beat in the flour mixture until a dough forms.
  • Using about1 1/2 tablespoons of dough at a time, roll the dough between your palms into 5-inch-long fingers about 1/2-inch thick. Firmly press a sliced almond into the end of each finger to make fingernails. Make several horizontal cuts, about 1/4 inch deep and 1/2 inch long, in the center of each finger to make knuckles. Press the dough on either side of the cuts to shape the knuckles. Arrange the fingers on the prepared baking sheet and bake until light golden, 16 to 18 minutes. Transfer the fingers to a wire rack and cool completely.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the jam over low heat until warm, about 2 minutes. Dip the blunt ends of the fingers in the warm jam and arrange on a platter.

SPOOKY WITCHES' FINGERS

Spooky Witches' Fingers image

This is a traditional Christmas cookie recipe that we have had in our family for years. All I did was change the shape to make them look like fingers for our annual Halloween party. The cookies make a great conversation piece. My guests loved them!

Provided by Sandra

Categories     Desserts     Cookies

Time 1h15m

Yield 60

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 ⅔ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup whole almonds
1 (.75 ounce) tube red decorating gel

Steps:

  • Combine the butter, sugar, egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Beat together with an electric mixer; gradually add the flour, baking powder, and salt, continually beating; refrigerate 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease baking sheets.
  • Remove dough from refrigerator in small amounts. Scoop 1 heaping teaspoon at a time onto a piece of waxed paper. Use the waxed paper to roll the dough into a thin finger-shaped cookie. Press one almond into one end of each cookie to give the appearance of a long fingernail. Squeeze cookie near the tip and again near the center of each to give the impression of knuckles. You can also cut into the dough with a sharp knife at the same points to help give a more finger-like appearance. Arrange the shaped cookies on the baking sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the cookies are slightly golden in color, 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Remove the almond from the end of each cookie; squeeze a small amount of red decorating gel into the cavity; replace the almond to cause the gel to ooze out around the tip of the cookie.

DIY EDIBLE HALLOWEEN PARTY WITCH HAT TREAT

DIY Edible Halloween Party Witch Hat Treat image

Number Of Ingredients 5

black candy melts
bugle corn chips
oreo thins
gold star shaped sprinkles
optional: black luster powder

Steps:

  • Pour candy melts into a melting pot or a microwave safe bowl. Melt on high 1 minute, stir, and on 70% 30 seconds. Every microwave is different so this is not a rule, it's what works using my microwave. The goal is to melt the candy but not get it too hot. If you get it too hot it will thicken on you. If this happens you can add a tablespoon of shortening. NO WATER! Set up the drying station. Rice and skewers works best. Dip the tops of each bugle in the melted candy. Place on the skewer to dry. Separate the Oreo thins and scrap out the filling. Dip each wafer in the melted candy, place on a parchment lined baking pan. Put in the refrigerator to harden (about 15 minutes). If the edges need to be trimmed, use a microplainer, rub your warm finger around the edges to smooth it out. Dip the base of the bugle in the melted candy, press onto the center of the Oreo. Put in the refrigerator to harden (about 15 minutes). Brush on optional luster powder.

DEVILISHLY SPICY CHEX MIX

Devilishly Spicy Chex Mix image

This devilishly hot Chex Mix is filled with sriracha, spicy pretzels, and Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Serve as a sure-fire Halloween snack.

Provided by Leah Maroney

Categories     Snack

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 14

3 cups Corn Chex cereal
3 cups Rice Chex cereal
1 cup Bugles corn snacks
1 cup oyster soup crackers
1/2 cup salted peanuts
1 cup bite-size pretzels (buffalo-seasoned, if possible)
8 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 tablespoons sriracha
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 cup Flamin' Hot Cheetos

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 250 F.
  • In a large bowl, gently stir together the Chex cereal, Bugles, oyster crackers, peanuts, and pretzels.
  • Add the butter to a measuring cup or another microwave-safe dish that is easy to pour from, and microwave until melted.
  • Whisk the seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder, hot sauce, and cayenne pepper into the butter until it is completely combined.
  • Gradually pour the butter mixture over the cereal mixture, stirring as you pour so that all of the cereal is completely coated.
  • Spread the cereal onto a large ungreased rimmed baking sheet. Make sure it is spread out in one even layer. Place the baking sheet in the oven, and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure all pieces get crispy.
  • Allow the mixture to cool and then add the Flamin' Hot Cheetos. (Do not add at the beginning. They do not stay crispy when mixed with the butter mixture.)
  • Serve right away or store in an airtight container. The mix will stay fresh for about a week.

2019-03-06 The cheese flavored bugles have a nice cheesy flavor and I love how the sauce gets on my fingers when I eat them. The bugles have a nice crunch to them and they have almost a corn like flavor and texture. I looked it up actually and they are a form of corn chip so now I know why! These are a great treat and good alternative to chips. There are several flavors.
