AIR FRYER CALAMARI



Air Fryer Calamari image

Guilt-free crispy air-fried calamari! Serve with cocktail sauce and lemon wedges if desired.

½ cup all-purpose flour
1 large egg
¼ cup milk
2 cups panko bread crumbs
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pound calamari rings, patted dry
nonstick cooking spray

Steps:

  • Preheat an air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Place flour in a bowl. Whisk egg and milk in a separate bowl. Combine panko, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
  • Coat calamari rings first in flour, then in egg mixture, and finally in panko mixture.
  • Place rings in the the basket of the air fryer so that none are overlapping. Work in batches if needed. Spray the tops with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Air fry for 4 minutes. Flip rings, spray with nonstick cooking spray, and cook for 3 minutes longer.

A delicious take on everyone's two favorite appetizers - Buffalo wings and fried calamari! Fresh, homemade calamari drizzled with blue cheese and hot sauce, topped with a cooling tomato relish. Hard to give a serving size, as my daughter Evan and I finish a whole recipe between us, or I'll make a plate for myself (only) as an entree! The beauty is, you can adjust just about all of the ingredients to taste!

1 cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste
1 pound baby calamari - rinsed, dried, and sliced into rings
vegetable oil for frying
½ cup diced tomatoes
¼ cup diced red onion
¼ cup diced celery
¼ cup crumbled blue cheese, or to taste
¼ cup blue cheese salad dressing, or to taste
¼ cup Buffalo wing sauce (such as Frank's RedHot®), or to taste

Steps:

  • Combine flour, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a resealable plastic bag and shake to combine. Add calamari and make sure all pieces are coated.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium to medium-high heat to 395 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • While oil heats, combine tomatoes, onion, and celery in a bowl. Set tomato relish aside.
  • Shake excess flour from calamari and drop calamari into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 1 minute per batch. Drain on paper towels. Transfer cooked calamari to a serving plate.
  • Top with crumbled blue cheese, blue cheese salad dressing, hot sauce, and a sprinkling of tomato relish.

I just went to a restaurant called Heaven on Seven while in Chicago. I had a dish called Buffalo Shrimp and it was delicious! This is my version of their masterpiece. I served it over white rice and topped it with chopped green onions.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deviened
salt and pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup Frank's red hot sauce
2 tablespoons chicken stock
2 tablespoons heavy cream

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium heat.
  • Season shrimp with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add to pan.
  • Saute for 5 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink.
  • Add hot sauce and chicken stock, cook 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and add heavy cream.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Easy Buffalo Cauliflower is baked - not fried - and delivers all of the flavor of fried buffalo chicken wings in a lighter, but equally tasty appetizer or main dish!

1 head cauliflower (chopped into florets)
½ cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¾ cup milk (or buttermilk)
½ cup buffalo wing sauce
3 tablespoons salted butter (add 1/8 teaspoon salt if using unsalted butter)
2 tablespoons honey
ranch or blue cheese dressing for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees and grease a baking sheet.
  • Stir together flour, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Stir in milk.
  • Dip cauliflower in the milk mixture, turning to coat completely, shake off excess and arrange in a single layer on prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, use a fork to turn over cauliflower pieces, and bake another 10 minutes.
  • While cauliflower is baking, combine buffalo wing sauce, butter, and honey in a medium sauce pan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, cook 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
  • Brush buffalo sauce all over the baked cauliflower, bake another 10 minutes (I like to broil it for the last 2-3 minutes).
  • Serve fresh with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 pound Baby Calamari
1 cup Flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4` teaspoon Pepper
1 dash Cayenne Pepper
1.5 cups Vegetable Oil
1/2 cup Tomato, fresh diced
1/4 cup Red Onion, diced
1/4 cup Celery, diced
1/2 cup Bleu Cheese Crumbles
1/4 cup Bleu Cheese Dressing

Steps:

  • Rinse, dry and slice Calamari into rings. (What the heck, throw the legs in too!)
  • Put Flour, Salt and Pepper, Cayenne into a Ziploc bag. Shake to combine
  • Add Calamari to Flour mixture; toss to coat all pieces
  • In Medium Fry Pan, heat Oil to appx. 395 degrees
  • While oil is heating, in a small bowl, combine Tomatos, Onions and Celery - set aside
  • Shake excess Flour from Calamari and add to hot Oil, a few pieces at a time. 45 seconds is about all it takes - remove to plate lined with paper towels.
  • Move Calamari to a serving plate.
  • Top with Crumbled Bleu Cheese and drizzle with Bleu Cheese dressing and Hot Sauce. Top with a sprinkling of Tomato Relish.
