GREAT STEAK, ON THE CHEAP

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 450°F. Lightly salt and pepper the steak on both sides.
- In heavy 10-inch ovenproof skillet*, heat oil over medium-high heat. Cook steak in oil about 4 minutes per side, until nicely browned. Place pan with steak in oven; roast 10 to 15 minutes or until medium rare and meat thermometer inserted in center of steak reads 145°F.
- Remove steak from oven; drizzle with vinegar. Allow to stand about 5 to 10 minutes before slicing diagonally.

BUDGET SEASONED STEAK
This is the easiest steak recipe in the world, courtesy of my friend Marcie, who also likes painless cooking. It is cheap (as steak goes), simple and surprisingly tasty. I'm not really sure what category it belongs in, because it's more of a tip than a recipe, but it is so good I just had to share!

Steps:
- Mix ramen seasoning, water.
- Place steaks in skillet or saucepan.
- Baste steaks with ramen/water mixture, pouring excess into bottom of skillet.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Ideally, flip steaks halfway through marinating period so other side soaks up juice.
- After steaks are marinated, cook at medium-high heat on stovetop to desired thoroughness.

JERK SEASONED STEAK

- Rinse steaks and pat dry. Let steak sit at room temperature for 20 minutes. Sprinkle lightly all over olive oil.
- Spread jerk seasoning over both sides of steak.
- Lay steaks on grill 4 to 6 inches above heat; close lid on gas barbecue. Cook until done to your liking, 4-6 minutes for medium-rare, turning once with a wide spatula or tongs halfway through cooking.
- Transfer to a board or platter and let rest about 5-10 minutes before serving. To allow the juices to redistribute.
