Brownie Bon Bons image

Instead of using the kisses you can use caramels, rolo candies, pitted dates, peanut butter cups, walnut halves or any miniaature sized candies.

1 (15 1/2 ounce) package fudge brownie mix
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
18 Hershey chocolate kisses

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Mix brownie mix, walnuts, egg and water thoroughly.
  • Wrap dough by rounded tablespoonful around each chocolate kiss.
  • Seal edges.
  • Put bon bon on ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake til set- 8- 10 minutes.

2 (10 ounce) jars maraschino cherries, reserve syrup for glaze
4 unsweetened chocolate squares
3/4 cup butter
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup corn syrup
3 unsweetened chocolate squares, melted and cooled
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Microwave chocolate and butter on high for 2 minutes or until butter is melted.
  • Stir until completely smooth.
  • Stir granulated sugar into melted chocolate.
  • Mix in eggs and vanilla until well combined.
  • Stir in flour until well blended.
  • Fill greased or paper lined miniature muffin tins 2/3 full with batter.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until toothpick test shows fudgy crumbs; be careful not to overbake.
  • Cool slightly and remove from pans.
  • Place brownies on waxed papered tray and while still warm make an indentation into each one with the end of a wood spoon or with fingertip.
  • Cool completely.
  • Drain cherries, reserving syrup, on paper towels and press gently to remove any liquid.
  • Allow to dry.
  • Chocolate Fudge Filling: Beat cream cheese and vanilla in small bowl until smooth.
  • Slowly pour in corn syrup and beat until well blended.
  • Add melted chocolate and beat until smooth.
  • Gradually add confectioner's sugar, beating until well blended.
  • Spoon 1 tsp of filling into each brownie indentation.
  • Gently press a cherry into filling.
  • Drizzle fancily with glaze.
  • Glaze: Combine cofectioner's sugar with enough cherry syrup to make a thin glaze.

BOOZY BON BONS

I've had this recipe for years and don't really know where I got it. I've only ever made these during the Christmas season. I store them in an old clear glass, clasp-lid mason jar with gold glittered decorations and a pretty ribbon. Cooking time is standing time. Rum or Brandy can be substituted for the whiskey. For those of you in the UK, you can substitute digestive bisquits for the wafers and also sub golden syrup for the corn syrup.

1 (12 ounce) box vanilla wafer cookies
1 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/2 cup whiskey
1/2 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Steps:

  • Put cookies into a large ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin or put into a food processor until you have very fine crumbs.
  • Mix the 1 cup powdered sugar, cocoa powder and walnuts thoroughly. Add to the cookie crumbs in a large bowl and mix together.
  • Add the corn syrup and whiskey and stir to combine. If mixture seems dry, add more whiskey, about a tablespoon at a time, up to 1/4 cup more. Do not add any more than this or the mixture will be too wet.
  • Let mixture stand for 20 minutes.
  • Roll into 1" balls, then roll in powdered sugar and place on waxed paper. Let dry 30 minutes.
  • Store in airtight container 2-3 weeks to ripen before eating.

BOURBON BACON BROWNIES

This recipe includes three of our favorite things - alcohol, bacon and chocolate. Nothing gets better than this.

1 (20 ounce) box brownie mix (Betty Crocker Dark Chocolate)
water (amt on box)
vegetable oil (amt on box)
1 egg
1/2 cup bacon, cooked crumbled
3 tablespoons Bourbon
1/4 cup Bourbon (reserve for end)

Steps:

  • Follow directions on back of brownie box regarding baking using an 8 x 8-inch pan.
  • Prepare brownie mix according to package instructions. Fold in crumbled bacon and stir in 3 tbsp bourbon.
  • Pour brownie batter into a lightly greased 8 x 8-inch pan. Bake as directed on package or until a toothpick inserted two inches from the edge of the pan comes out mostly clean.
  • Remove brownies from oven and immediately pour 1/4 cup bourbon on them. Cool in refrigerator completely before slicing and serving.

1/4 c butter or margarine
1 pkg 12 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 can(s) sweetened condensed milk
2 c flour
1 bag of hershey hugs (unwrap as needed)
as needed melted white choc. chips or white almond bark

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • 2. Melt together the butter & semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3. Stir in the next 3 ingredients
  • 4. Dough will be very stiff. I use a deep bowled measuring TABLESPOON and scoop out dough balls
  • 5. Form above dough ball around 1 Hershey HUG (unwrapped) completely enclosing the Hug.
  • 6. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 6 -8 minutes - They will appear shiney & soft as you take them out.
  • 7. When cool - drizzle w/melted white chocolate morsels or white almond bark
