"Each time I make brownies, half the batch goes to friends and the rest ends up in this ice cream," says Agnes. "For crunch, I sometimes add a half-cup of chopped nuts."

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 cups half-and-half cream
3/4 cup sugar, divided
3 tablespoons baking cocoa
6 egg yolks
6 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 package fudge brownie mix (8-inch square pan size)

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, heat cream to 175°; stir in 1/2 cup sugar until dissolved. In a bowl, combine cocoa and remaining sugar; whisk in egg yolks until smooth. Whisk in a small amount of hot cream mixture. Return all to the pan, whisking constantly. Cook and stir over low heat until mixture reaches at least 160° and coats the back of a metal spoon. , Remove from the heat; stir in chocolate until melted. Cool quickly by placing pan in a bowl of ice water; let stand for 30 minutes, stirring frequently. , Transfer to a bowl; press plastic wrap onto surface of custard. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight., Prepare and bake brownies according to package directions. Cool on a wire rack; cut into 1/2-in. cubes., Fill cylinder of ice cream freezer two-thirds full with custard; freeze according to manufacturer's directions. Stir in half of the brownie cubes. Refrigerate remaining custard until ready to freeze. Add remaining brownies. When ice cream is frozen, transfer to a freezer container; freeze for 2-4 hours before serving.

This Brownie Milkshake is a super decadent treat every chocolate lover should taste at least once! Loaded with brownie chunks and decorated with ganache, this milkshake is packed with delicious chocolate flavour.

Whipped Cream
Melted Chocolate or Ganache
Brownie crumbs
2 brownies, cut into chunks
4 cups chocolate or vanilla ice cream (8 large scoops), slightly softened
1/4 cup whole milk or heavy cream
Melted Chocolate or Ganache (see notes)

Steps:

  • Using a small spoon, drizzle some melted chocolate or ganache inside of the glass (ganache recipe below).
  • Spoon some more of the chocolate OR ganache over the rim of the glass and allow it to drip down. Place glasses in the freezer while you prepare the milkshake.
  • Add softened ice cream, brownie chunks and whole milk to a blender. Blend until smooth. You can add more brownies if desired.
  • Pour milkshake into glasses and garnish with whipped cream, extra ganache or melted chocolate and brownie crumbs. Serve and enjoy!

  • Add remaining 1 cup of cream to a large bowl. Set a mesh strainer over the top of the bowl and set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Slowly pour the warmed mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly. Then scrape the warmed egg yolks back into the saucepan and place over medium heat. Stir the mixture constantly with a heatproof spatula, scraping the bottom as you stir, until the mixture thickens and coats the spatula. It's now a custard. Pour the custard through the strainer and stir it into the cream. Add the vanilla and then set the bowl in the prepared ice bath. Stir the custard until it is no longer warm. Then place the custard in the refrigerator to chill thoroughly, at least a few hours or overnight.
