For Chocolate Brown Sugar Brownies, stir 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips into the batter along with the nuts. Bake in lightly greased pan 13 x 9 x 2 inches for 30 minutes.

1 ⅓ cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 x 9 x 1-3/4 inch pan.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder and salt and set aside. In large bowl, beat together butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth.
  • Stir in the flour mixture and the nuts until well blended. Spread evenly in prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until surface springs back when gently pressed. Cool slightly. While still warm, cut into bars with a sharp knife.

1 stick butter
1 c chopped pecans
2 c self-rising flour
1 box light brown sugar, 1 lb
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Grease or spray 9x13 pan.
  • 2. Melt butter in saucepan. Remove from heat.
  • 3. Stir in brown sugar, eggs, and flour. Mix well. The batter is thick.
  • 4. Add vanilla extract and pecans.
  • 5. Spread into a 9x13 greased pan.
  • 6. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes (depending on your oven).
  • 7. They are done when they are brown, pulling away from sides of the pan and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease and flour an 8" baking pan.
  • Sir together butter and brown sugar.

  • Add vanilla extract and chopped pecans and stir.
  • Pour into the greased and floured pan.

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup (packed) golden brown sugar
6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
3 tablespoons orange liqueur
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 ounces milk chocolate, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/3 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup chopped candied orange peel

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter 8x8x2-inch baking pan. Mix first 3 ingredients in small bowl. Whisk brown sugar, butter, egg, 2 tablespoons liqueur and vanilla in large bowl to blend. Add dry ingredients; stir to blend. Stir in chocolate, pecans and peel. Transfer batter to pan.
  • Bake batter until golden and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Transfer pan to rack. Brush top with 1 tablespoon liqueur. Cool completely in pan. Cut into 16 squares. (Can be made 2 days ahead. Wrap in plastic; store at room temperature.)
