Browned Butter Honey Lime Shrimp with a subtle hint of chili will become your new favourite shrimp recipe! Shrimp that tastes like something straight out of a restaurant and feels gourmet with half of the effort and maximum taste! On your table in less than 15 minutes with no marinating!

Provided by Karina

Categories     Appetizer     Dinner     Lunch

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lime juice
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
3 cloves garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon ground red chili flakes ((add more to your taste))
21 oz (600 grams) shrimp (peeled and deveined (tail on or off))
Salt to season
Lime wedges ((to serve))
Fresh chopped parsley (to serve)

Steps:

  • Heat butter in a non stick pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Melt, swirling pan and stirring occasionally for about 3 minutes, or until the foam settles; the butter begins to change in colour to golden brown and has a nutty fragrance.
  • Add the honey, lime juice, soy sauce, garlic and chili flakes; stir well to combine all of the flavours together and cook for 30 seconds until the garlic is fragrant.
  • Remove from heat. Pour out just over half of the browned butter from the pan (liquid only), leaving 2 tablespoons of the lime butter mixture in the pan, and reserve the rest for later.
  • Add half of the shrimp to the lime/butter in the pan, season with salt and pepper. Sear for about 2 minutes each side, or until just cooked through and no longer opaque. Transfer to a plate, set aside.
  • Wipe pan over with paper towel and add 2 more tablespoons of the lime/butter mixture to the pan. (You may need to add 1 teaspoon of olive oil or extra butter to the pan if your sauce has thickened too much.)
  • Season and sear the remaining shrimp for 2 minutes each side, or until just cooked through and no longer opaque.
  • Add the cooked shrimp back into the pan, and pour in the remaining lime/butter sauce; stirring through the shrimp to evenly coat. Season with salt if desired and garnish with parsley and extra chili flakes (if desired).
  • Serve with steamed vegetables; over rice or with a salad

HONEY-GARLIC SHRIMP

Honey-Garlic Shrimp image

While it may sound like a plain, generic item you see on a menu at the food court at the mall, honey-garlic shrimp is actually one of the most exciting and delicious garlic shrimp recipes I know. It's the perfect balance of sweet and savory while still packing a substantial garlic punch, plus it's extremely fast and simple to make. This recipe uses half the honey that typical recipes use and allows the natural sweetness of the shrimp to shine through. Serve over hot cooked rice or the starchy base of your choice such as noodles.

Categories     Seafood     Shellfish     Shrimp

Time 45m

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pound large raw shrimp (16-20 count), peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
2 tablespoons honey
½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 tablespoon soy sauce, or more to taste
1 teaspoon Asian fish sauce, or to taste
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 cup thinly sliced green onion, or to taste

Steps:

  • Make sure shrimp are fully thawed and well drained. Keep in the refrigerator while you make the marinade.
  • Whisk garlic, honey, ginger, soy sauce, and fish sauce together in a bowl.
  • Add shrimp and toss thoroughly with a spatula for 2 minutes until completely coated. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for 30 to 60 minutes; toss occasionally while marinating.
  • Brush a large nonstick skillet with oil and heat over high heat until you begin to see small wisps of smoke. Use tongs to immediately transfer shrimp into the hot skillet in a single layer. Set excess marinade aside.
  • Sear shrimp for 2 minutes, then flip over. Dump in marinade and cook for 1 minute. Turn off heat and flip shrimp once more; let sit for about 1 minute. The marinade in the pan will reduce down to a beautiful glaze just from the residual heat in the pan. Garnish with green onion.

Brown Butter Garlic Shrimp Recipe image

Garlic Shrimp makes an easy, yet fabulous quick-fix favorite dish. So versatile, this brown butter garlic shrimp recipe can be used to top pasta or a bowl of cheesy grits!

Provided by Robyn Stone | Add a Pinch

Categories     Main Course

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 tablespoons butter
6 cloves garlic (chopped)
1/4 medium sweet onion (diced)
2 pounds shrimp (peeled and deveined)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
pinch red pepper flakes
1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)

As the butter just begins to turn nutty-brown from golden, reduce your heat to medium-low and carefully toss in your garlic and onion. Cook until the onion just begins to become tender and then add in your shrimp. Stirring frequently, cook until the shrimp turn pink and lose their translucence.
  • Stir in salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes and fresh parsley. Toss shrimp to make sure all are well-coated. Remove from heat and serve.

BROWNED BUTTER GARLIC PRAWNS WITH CAULIFLOWER PUREE

Browned Butter Garlic Prawns with Cauliflower Puree image

Simple and elegant. This is my copycat of a meal I had at a posh restaurant in the city which cost 4 times as much as making it at home! Please use fresh prawns for this, not frozen ones. It makes a huge difference. Believe me, I've tried this with frozen before - not good!

Provided by Nagi | RecipeTin Eats

Categories     Meal     Prawns     Seafood

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 12

10 oz / 300 g peeled prawns ((12 to 14 large prawns) (about 500g whole unpeeled prawns))
2 cloves garlic (, crushed)
2 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper
3 tbsp white wine
3 tbsp salted butter
2 garlic cloves (, smashed (Note 1))
1/2 medium cauliflower (, broken into florets)
1 to 3 tbsp butter ((or to taste))
1/3 to 2/3 cup milk
Salt and pepper
Parsley (, finely chopped)

Steps:

  • Garlic Prawns: Combine ingredients except the wine in a bowl, using your fingers to toss gently. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Cauliflower Puree: Cook the cauliflower in boiling water until soft - about 10 minutes. Drain and allow to cool slightly. Transfer cauliflower to a blender or food processor, add butter, 1/3 cup of milk, salt and pepper. Puree until smooth, using extra milk to get the texture to your liking. Leave in the blender with the lid on to keep warm.

  • Place shrimp in a large sealable container or zipped-top bag. Pour 1/2 of the marinade/sauce mixture on top, give it all a shake or stir, then allow shrimp to marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes or for up to 8-12 hours. Cover and refrigerate the rest of the marinade for step 3. (Time-saving tip: while the shrimp is marinating, we usually steam broccoli and microwave some quick brown rice.)
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place shrimp in the skillet. (Discard used marinade.) Cook shrimp on one side until pink, about 45 seconds, then flip shrimp over. Pour in remaining marinade/sauce and cook it all until shrimp is cooked through, about 1-2 more minutes.
  • Serve shrimp with cooked marinade sauce and a garnish of green onion. The sauce is excellent on brown rice and steamed vegetables on the side.
