1 1/2 lbs broccoli, florets and stems sliced into diagonal pieces
1 1/2 tablespoons dark sesame oil
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon ground ginger
2 teaspoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • Saute the broccoli over medium heat in sesame oil for 8 minutes.
  • While broccoli is cooking, stir together the soy sauce, ginger, and sugar, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • Add the soy mixture to the broccoli along with the water, cover and simmer for 2 minutes more.
  • Serve at once.

1 lb fresh broccoli, cut into spears
2 Tbsp orange marmalade
1 Tbsp butter
1/2 tsp cider vinegar
1/8 tsp ground ginger

Steps:

  • 1. Steam broccoli spears until tender - do not overcook.
  • 2. Combine marmalade, butter, vinegar and ginger in a small saucepan. Cook until marmalade and butter are melted.
  • 3. Drain broccoli and place on a platter. Drizzle marmalade mixture over broccoli.

2 pounds broccoli
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon minced peeled fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Cut florets into 2-inch-wide pieces. Trim stems and peel with a knife, then slice crosswise 1/4 inch thick. Cook broccoli in a large pot of boiling salted water, uncovered, until crisp-tender, 3 to 4 minutes, then drain.
  • Heat oil in a 12-inch heavy skillet over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking, then sauté ginger, stirring, until fragrant, about 15 seconds. Add broccoli and salt and sauté , stirring, until just tender, 2 to 3 minutes.

  • Toss 1 pound broccoli florets with olive oil, salt and pepper. Char in a hot cast-iron skillet, 5 minutes, then roast at 500˚ F until tender, 8 to 10 minutes. Cut out the segments from 1 orange; squeeze the juice from the membranes. Whisk 2 tablespoons of the juice with 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon each white wine vinegar and orange marmalade and 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard. Drizzle the broccoli and orange segments with the dressing.

1/2 tablespoon peanut oil
2 tablespoons gingerroot, finely chopped
1 teaspoon orange zest
1/4 cup orange juice
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
2 tablespoons chives, chopped

Steps:

  • Trim broccoli and cut into the florets.
  • Heat oil in a wok. Stir fry broccoli and ginger for 2 minutes.
  • Add orange zest and juice, Tabasco and bring to the boil; cover and simmer for 5 minutes or until liquid has evaporated.
  • Toss chives through and serve immediately.
