BREADED SPAM® STEAKS

Breaded SPAM® Steaks image

I got this recipe from my boyfriend (being a guy, he eats anything fried). This is a good snack to make when you get the munchies. It can be made in any quantity you need.

Provided by [email protected]

Categories     Meat and Poultry Recipes     Pork

Time 20m

Yield 3

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 quart vegetable oil for frying
1 (12 ounce) can fully cooked luncheon meat (such as SPAM®), cut into 1/4 inch slices
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Gently press the luncheon meat slices into the flour to coat and shake off the excess flour. Dip into the beaten egg, then press into bread crumbs. Gently toss between your hands so any bread crumbs that haven't stuck can fall away. Place the breaded luncheon meat slices onto a plate while breading the rest; do not stack.
  • Deep fry the luncheon meat a few slices at a time until hot and golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes. Drain on a paper towel lined plate before serving.

BREADED BEEF

Breaded Beef image

Our all-time favorite meat item! Everybody who has ever had this has flipped out! It's so easy and make extra and freeze it for a meal in 5 minutes. Give it a try -- I promise you won't be disappointed! Serve with a squeeze of lemon -- fantastic hot or at room temperature.

Time 2h45m

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 pounds beef rump roast
2 eggs
3 tablespoons water
4 cups dry bread crumbs, or more as needed
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon salt
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ cup vegetable oil, or as needed

Steps:

  • Place the beef roast into the freezer for several hours, until very firm and almost frozen. Slice the beef about 1/8 inch thick across the grain. You can also ask the butcher to slice it very thinly for you.
  • Whisk the eggs and water together in a bowl. Spread the bread crumbs out onto a large sheet of aluminum foil, and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and Parmesan cheese. Mix all the crumb ingredients together until well combined. Dip each piece of beef into the egg mixture, then thoroughly coat with crumbs. Place the coated slices onto a sheet of foil on a baking sheet, and separate them with waxed paper as you dip and coat the beef.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large, heavy skillet until shimmering, and pan-fry the beef slices until golden brown, about 2 minutes on the first side and 1 minute on the second side. Fry 2 or 3 slices per batch.

HOW TO MAKE MILANESA DE RES

How to Make Milanesa de Res image

Milanesa Steak, Milanesa de Res in Spanish, is a popular thinly sliced, breaded main course, quickly pan-fried. It's an easy dish that gets on the table in 30 minutes.

Provided by Christian Guzman

Categories     Main Course

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 cup Vegetable Oil (For frying)
1/4 cup All Purpose Flour
1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (like Seasoned Progresso with Parmesan)
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
1 teaspoon Ancho Powder
1/2 teaspoon Cumin Powder
1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
2 large Eggs
1 pound Top Round Steaks (Milanesa Beef, very thin top round slices)

Steps:

  • Begin heating oil in skillet on medium heat on the stove top.
  • In shallow casserole or pie dish, stir together breadcrumbs and spices, set aside.
  • In another shallow casserole or pie dish, whisk eggs until well blended, set aside.
  • Sprinkle flour on both sides of each steak.
  • Working with one steak at a time (using gloves, if you like), dip each steak in egg then in breadcrumb mixture. Set steaks aside on a baking sheet so they're not touching.
  • Once all steaks are covered and the oil is hot, cook one steak at a time. Place in the oil and cook for 1-2 minutes if the steaks are 1/8" thick or 2-3 minutes if the steaks are 1/4" thick. Using tongs, turn and repeat.
  • Remove steaks to drain on paper towels.
  • This meal is typically served with French fries when plated or can be made into fajita style tacos or sandwiches. I've shown it with a tomato pico de gallo and a rounded scoop of polenta, garnished with cilantro and lime slices for squeezing a bit of lime juice on top when serving.

BREADED PORK STEAK

Breaded Pork Steak image

In Spanish this dish is called bistec de puerco empanizado, translation: breaded pork steak, and it's super easy to make.

Provided by Elizabeth

Categories     Main Course

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 pound Thin Pork Loin Steaks (flattened to about a ¼ inch)
1 ½ teaspoons Salt
1 ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
½ teaspoon Onion Powder
¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
¾ cup All Purpose Flour
1 cup Cracker Meal or Plain Bread Crumbs
2 large Eggs (beaten)
Canola Oil, for Frying

Steps:

  • Add the salt, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper to a small bowl and mix well to combine.
  • Sprinkle the pork steaks on both sides with about half of the seasoning mix.
  • Use a large baking sheet (or a large piece of parchment paper) add the flour to one side and the cracker meal (or breadcrumbs) to the other. Season the cracker meal with the remaining seasoning and mix with a fork.
  • Add the eggs to a large bowl and scramble using a fork or whisk, sprinkle with a little salt.
  • Working with one piece of pork at a time, lightly coat it in the flour on both sides, shake off the excess flour.
  • Next, dip the pork in the egg mixture; make sure the pork is evenly moist.
  • Now, place the pork in the cracker meal or breadcrumbs, make sure there is an even coating and gently shake off the excess.
  • Place the pork on a pan or plate and repeat with the remaining pieces. If you are stacking the pork, use a piece of parchment paper in between so that the coating doesn't stick to itself and flake off.
  • Cover the bottom of a large, deep skillet with about a ¼ of an inch of oil. Heat the oil over medium-high. When the oil is hot, but not smoking, add 1 or 2 pieces of pork, do not overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry the pork for about 2-3 minutes per side, turn and repeat until they're golden brown.
  • Remove the pork from the skillet and place it on a baking sheet that is lined with a cooling rack. Fry the remaining pieces.

  • Drain the tofu, and cut into your steak sized pieces. I like cutting it into two large steaks by slicing the block it in half lengthwise, but you could cut it into more pieces for smaller crispier tofu.
  • Once cut, lay the tofu pieces on a clean dishtowel, and then wrap them up in the towel. Put a cutting board on top, and balance something heavy, such as a few cans on top of that. This is how you press the tofu to help release excess water. Let the tofu press for 10 to 30 minutes, the longer you press it, the drier and more firm the steaks will be.
  • When you are ready to make your tofu steaks, mince the garlic cloves and add them to a large flat bowl that is big enough to fit one of your tofu steaks.
  • Add the remaining sauce ingredients to the garlic bowl: the tomato paste, dijon mustard, maple syrup, soy sauce, water, and pepper, and mix together.
