This really makes quite an elegant appitizer. I got this recipe from the Best of Bridge series. It is fast, easy and really, really delicious

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup pecans or 1/4 cup cashews, chopped
1 tablespoon brandy or 1 tablespoon whiskey
7 1/2 ounces brie cheese
cracker

Steps:

  • Combine brown sugar, pecans, and brandy. Set aside.
  • Score top of the cheese and place on an oven proof platter.
  • Bake at 400 for 4 - 5 minutes, until cheese is softened.
  • Mound sugar mixture over cheese.
  • Bake 2 to 3 minutes more until sugar is melted.
  • Serve with crackers.
  • Note: I use my toaster oven to cook this. I have seen this recipe done up on a larger wheel of brie -- the sauce just needs to be adjusted.

Candied Nuts and Brie Dip image

This is a must-do the next time you have guests! Don't want to cook with alcohol? Try using balsamic vinegar instead.

2 Tbsp brown sugar, firmly packed
2 Tbsp pecans and/or almonds
1 1/2 tsp brandy
8 oz brie, firm and ripe
sliced apples
crackers
sliced baguette

Steps:

  • 1. Stir together brown sugar, nuts, and brandy. Place cheese in a baking dish a little larger than the Brie wheel. Bake at 425 for about 6 minutes until cheese begins to soften in the middle.
  • 2. Sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over the cheese.
  • 3. Bake until the sugar melts (3-5 minutes more).
  • 4. Serve with apples, crackers or sliced baguettes. *You can use a 17.6 oz wheel of Brie for this recipe for a larger crowd. Just triple the other ingredients.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts or pecans
1 tablespoon brandy
One 14-ounce round of Brie
Apple wedges
Pear wedges
Lemon juice
Crackers

Steps:

  • In a small bowl stir together the sugar, nuts, and brandy. Cover and chill for at least 24 hours or up to one week. At serving time, place the Brie on an ovenproof platter or pie plate. Bake at 500 degrees for 4 or 5 minutes or until the Brie is slightly softened. Spread the sugar mixture in an even layer on top of the warm Brie, and bake for 2 to 3 minutes longer, or until the sugar melts. Brush the fruit wedges with lemon juice and arrange them around one side of the Brie. Place crackers around the other side.

1 round (8 ounces) Brie cheese
1/2 cup dried cherries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup brandy or unsweetened apple juice
French bread baguette, sliced and toasted or assorted crackers

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Place cheese in a 9-in. pie plate. Combine cherries, walnuts, brown sugar and brandy; spoon over cheese., Bake 15-20 minutes or until cheese is softened. Serve with baguette.
