HUNKY DORY'S BOOGER COOKIES

Hunky Dory's Booger Cookies image

I did not make this recipe up. I found it in a book my daughter brought home for school. I didn't want to lose this recipe, because I plan on making it. So if you make it before I do let know how it tastes!!

Time 25m

Yield 24-36 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 14

1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 cup margarine or 1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 (3 1/2 ounce) package instant pistachio pudding mix
1 egg
2 cups unbleached flour
1/2 cup chocolate chips
walnuts or pecans
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 -3 tablespoon milk
3 -5 drops green food coloring
1 (16 ounce) bag Hershey chocolate kisses (dark chocolate if you are really evil)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Ina large bowl, cream 1/3 cup powdered sugar, 1 cup of butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and the almond extract, pudding mix, and egg in your cauldron until well blended.
  • Lightly spoon flour into the measuring cup.
  • By hand, bit by bit, stir in the flour and 1/2 cup of chocolate chips until well blended.
  • Chant your favorite spell while you stir; it makes the time pass more quickly.
  • Shape into 1-inch balls, and roll in the eye of newt (pecans or walnuts also work nicely, if you like them).
  • Place 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  • With thumb or wand, make imprint in center of each cookie.
  • Bake for 10 to 14 minutes until edges are light brown.
  • Let cool completely.
  • In a smaller cauldron, combine all filling ingredients until smooth, and place a very scant teaspoon of this filling onto the center of each cookie. Top with a witch's hat.

Time 1h15m

Yield 24

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 cup margarine, softened
⅓ cup confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¾ teaspoon almond extract
1 (3 ounce) package instant pistachio pudding mix
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 ½ cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon milk, or as needed
3 drops green food coloring, or as needed
24 milk chocolate candy kisses (such as Hershey's Kisses®), unwrapped

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  • Beat the margarine and 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Beat in the egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and the almond extract until completely incorporated. Mix in the pudding mix until smooth. Stir in the flour until just incorporated, then fold in the chocolate chips, mixing just enough to evenly combine.
  • Form the cookie dough into 1-inch balls, and place onto the prepared baking sheet. Use your thumb to make an indent into each cookie.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are golden, 10 to 14 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • While the cookies are cooling, prepare the filling by stirring 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar in a bowl with 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, milk, and food coloring. Add additional milk as needed to make the mixture smooth. Spoon a little of the green filling into each cooled cookie, and top with a candy kiss.

BOOGERS ON A STICK RECIPE BY AMANDA - COOKEATSHARE
If you’re a fan of my Kitty Litter Cake, then you’ll love these Boogers on a Stick. It’s a delicious yet gross Halloween party food I made many years ago when I still owned my old website, Family Corner. In fact, the old photos are still floating around the web here and there, only back then I used pretzel logs. This time I asked an Amanda’s Cookin’ contributor, Jennifer, if she and ...

BOOGERS ON A STICK: GROSS HALLOWEEN PARTY FOOD IDEAS!
2016-10-06 This recipe reminds me of something you would read in a Roald Dahl book – a gross seeming snack that is actually delicious. In this case, the sticks are actually pretzels and the boogers are a tasty cheese dipping sauce. You can use Cheez Whiz or a Salsa con Queso for a bit more flavor. I like to present a few sticks with the boogers already ...
