Black walnuts are abundant here in the Ozarks. My aunt gave me this walnut pie and I think it's one of the best pies I've ever tasted. -Helen Holbrook, De Soto, Missouri

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 unbaked pastry shell (9 inches)
1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup chopped black walnuts

Steps:

  • Combine 1 tablespoon sugar and flour. Sprinkle into the pastry shell; set aside. , In a small saucepan, bring the corn syrup, brown sugar and remaining sugar just to a boil. Remove from the heat; stir in butter until melted. Let cool for 3 minutes. , Gradually stir eggs into hot mixture. Add walnuts and mix well. Pour into pastry shell. Bake at 325° for 55-60 minutes or until top is browned.

3 eggs
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup real maple syrup
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped black walnuts
1 crust from 1 package (10 oz) frozen Pillsbury™ Regular Pie Crusts (2 Count)
Sweetened whipped cream, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, beat eggs and brown sugar with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Add syrup, butter, lemon peel, lemon juice, vanilla and salt; beat until smooth.
  • Sprinkle walnuts in pie crust; pour filling over nuts.
  • Bake 55 minutes (center of pie will not be set). Cool completely on cooling rack, about 1 hour. Serve with whipped cream.

1/2 c sugar
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp all purpose flour
1 pkg 9 inch unbaked pastry shell
1 c light corn syrup
1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
3 Tbsp margarine
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 c chopped black walnuts

Steps:

  • 1. Combine 1 tablespoon sugar and flour, sprinkle over bottom of pie shell and set aside. In a medium saucepan, bring corn syrup, brown sugar and remaining sugar just to a boil. Remove from the heat, Stir in margarine until melted. Let cool for 3 minutes. Gradually stir in eggs into hot mixture. add walnuts and mix well. Pour into pie shell. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place pie in oven, immediately reduce heat to 325 degrees . Bake for 55 minutes or until top is browned or center comes out clean with a toothpick.

1 stick butter, softened
1 c sugar
3 Tbsp flour
1/8 tsp salt
3 egg yolks
2/3 c evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c chopped black walnuts

Steps:

  • 1. preheat oven to 375 degrees
  • 2. In medium sized bowl, beat butter and sugar until well mixed.
  • 3. add flour salt ,egg yolks and evaporated milk, beat with mixer on low until well mixed.
  • 4. Stir in vanilla and walnuts pour into unbaked shell
  • 5. Bake on lower shelf of oven for 45 minutes, or until center is almost set but still soft
  • 6. Cool thoroughly on wire rack
