I came up with an easy, savory-instead of sweet-dinner version of monkey bread featuring garlic and Italian seasoning. -Dana Johnson, Scottsdale, Arizona

1 tube (16.3 ounces) large refrigerated flaky biscuits
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Additional Italian seasoning

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°. Separate biscuits; cut each into 6 pieces. In a large bowl, combine butter, garlic and Italian seasoning; add biscuit pieces and toss to coat., Place 4 pieces in each of 12 greased muffin cups. Sprinkle with cheese and additional Italian seasoning. Bake until golden brown, 8-10 minutes. Serve warm.

  • Stir in nuts (optional).

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup butter (do not use margarine)
3/4 cup packed brown sugar

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 12-cup fluted tube cake pan with cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, stir Bisquick mix, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1/4 cup butter, the milk, vanilla and eggs until soft dough forms. Divide dough into 24 pieces. With greased hands, roll dough into balls.
  • In small bowl, mix 1/4 cup granulated sugar and the cinnamon. Roll each dough ball in sugar mixture; place balls randomly in pan. Sprinkle with any remaining sugar mixture.
  • In 2-quart saucepan, melt 1 cup butter. Stir in brown sugar; heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil 2 minutes; remove from heat. Pour caramel mixture over dough balls in pan.
  • Bake 22 to 28 minutes or until lightly browned on top. Cool 3 to 5 minutes. Place heatproof serving plate upside down over pan; turn plate and pan over. Remove pan; cool 10 minutes. Serve warm.

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
¾ cup white sugar
2 (7.5 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough
½ cup butter
½ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray 8 muffin cups with cooking spray.
  • In a bowl, stir together 1 tablespoon of cinnamon and the white sugar until evenly blended. Remove the biscuits from the packages, and cut into quarters. Drop a few biscuit pieces at a time into the sugar mixture, and coat thoroughly. Distribute the coated biscuit pieces among the prepared muffin tins (4 to 5 pieces per cup).
  • Place butter, brown sugar, and the remaining 1 tablespoon cinnamon in a microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl, and microwave a few seconds until the butter has melted. Stir to blend, and drizzle about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture over each cup.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the tops of the muffins are crispy and brown, about 20 minutes. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before removing from pan.

  • Layer biscuits into greased tube pan.

  • Melt margarine and brown sugar and boil 1 minute.

1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, cubed
2 tubes (12 ounces each) refrigerated flaky buttermilk biscuits
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
8 ounces cream cheese, cut into 20 cubes
1-1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • In a small microwave-safe bowl, heat brown sugar and butter on high for 1 minute or until sugar is dissolved; set aside. , Flatten each biscuit into a 3-in. circle. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon in the center of each biscuit. Top with a cream cheese cube. Fold dough over filling; pinch edges to seal tightly., Sprinkle 1/2 cup walnuts into a greased 10-in. fluted tube pan.
