BETTY'S BEER MARGARITA
Betty was a friend of mine who was around my dads age and was like a mother to me. She used to tell me about this drink and what was in it but I never had them until now because I didn't have her exact recipe. Betty died of lung cancer last February, before I could get her recipe. I found the recipe on "The Food Network" web site and improvised it to suit my taste and named it after Betty. You can add more tequila if you want to. Warning: More than one might sneak up on you because you can't taste the tequila! :)

- Dip the rim of a beer mug or a tall glass in the lime juice/limeade and then in the salt.
- Pour beer, limeade concentrate and tequila into a 2 cup measuring cup and stir well.
- Pour into the beer mug/tall glass (with or without ice).
- Put the lime wedge on the rim of the mug/glass to make it look like you are having a fancy drink.
- Cheers
- Note:For best results, put the beer mug/glass in the freezer for about 10 or 15 minutes before serving to have a nice cold, frosty mug/glass.
- It helps keep the drink cold longer.
REFRESHING BEER MARGARITAS
I'm always surprised when people say they didn't know this drink existed. It's a really refreshing cocktail, and it's easy to double or triple the recipe. -Arianne Barnett, Kansas City, Missouri

BEER MARGARITAS
Who would believe that beer would be the perfect solution to eradicating fluorescent green margaritas? Well, it is! Best to use not-so-micro brews to avoid an overpowering beer flavor. Use the limeade can to measure the ingredients, and adjust with extra water if the mixture seems too sweet. Straining the pulp is always a good idea, unless, of course, you like pulp!

- Make simple syrup by heating equal amounts of granulated sugar and water (I used 1/4 cup of each) in a small pot over low heat. As soon as the sugar has dissolved, remove from heat. Store in air tight container in the refrigerator. Make as little or as much as you want. It will last at least a few weeks.
- Using a very large mug, add ice cubes and all the margarita ingredients: tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and orange liqueur.
- Pour the beer into the glass and submerge the top of the beer in the liquid. It won't overflow if you do it right.
