You can either bag the mix for future use or go ahead and make the brownies. You can also use a high quality cocoa to improve the flavor. Customize it with chips, nuts or whatever you like. I found this on a blog for saving money. Making it yourself should save you about 80- 85%

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil (I use canola)
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Mix all these ingredients together with a whisk and dump them into a ziploc to save. Should be good in the pantry for 6 months.
  • When making the brownies, preheat oven to 350°F
  • Add eggs, oil and vanilla and mix with a fork til just blended. Do not overmix.
  • Pour into a silicone or buttered 9x9 pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

These brownies are so rich and fudgy and so simple to make. I got the recipe from a recipe group, and have never bought a mix again!

1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional) or 1/2 cup pecans (optional)

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, melt butter or margarine on low heat.
  • Remove from heat and in same pan, stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla, stir well.
  • Add in flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  • Stir in chips and nuts if desired.
  • Bake at 350 for approx 25-30 minutes, depending on your oven.
  • Do not over-bake.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist Devil's Food cake mix
Half a box of Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie mix (about 1 3/4 cups)
4 extra-large eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/4 cups water
Half a container of Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Chocolate or Chocolate Fudge frosting
Chopped pecans or mini chocolate chips, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a Bundt pan. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the cake mix, brownie mix, eggs, oil, and water for 3 minutes on medium-high speed of mixer. Pour into prepared Bundt pan. Bake in center of oven for 40-50 minutes, or until center tests done with a wooden toothpick. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes then turn cake out onto the rack to cool completely. When cake is cool, microwave frosting for about 10 seconds on high setting, or just until drizzling consistency. Frost top of cake and garnish with chopped pecans or mini chocolate chips, if desired.
