MICHELADA - THE MEXICAN BLOODY MARY RECIPE

Add a little spice to your life with a Michelada. The perfect balance of tomato, lime, hot sauce and an ice cold beer.

2 teaspoons sea salt or coarse salt
1/2 teaspoon chili seasoning mix
6 ounces tomato juice ( - or Bloody Mary Mix)
1/4 cup lime juice ( - 2 to 3 limes)
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce ( - vegan)
1 teaspoon hot sauce ( - you may add more after trying the finished product)
12 ounces beer ( - your favorite, I used Dos Equis)
3 green olives (- optional for garnish)
1 wedge lime (- optional for garnish)

Steps:

  • Mix the salt and chili seasoning in a saucer and spread wider than the rim of the glass.
  • Use a lime wedge and rub around the rim of each glass.
  • Hold the glass from the bottom and move straight down and place into the salt/chili seasoning mix. Lift and set aside.
  • Pour all of the drink ingredients into a large pitcher and mix.
  • Fill up the glass with ice.
  • Pour the mixed drink over the ice.
  • Serve with olives and lime wedges for a little extra fun.

1/4 cup fresh lime juice
3 1/4 cups tomato-clam juice (recommended: Clamato*) see Cook's Note
3/4 teaspoon hot sauce, (recommended: Tabasco)
Salt, for rimming the glasses
2 (12-ounce) cans beer
Celery sticks, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a pitcher, combine the lime juice, tomato-clam juice and hot sauce. Mix well and chill until ready to serve.
  • Spread a small amount of salt into a shallow saucer. Moisten the rims of tall glasses and coat them in salt. Fill the glasses with ice and pour in the cocktail. Add the beer and garnish each glass with a celery stick.

1/2 cup low-sodium V8 Vegetable Juice
1 ounce freshly squeezed orange juice (about 1/2 an orange)
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1/2 a lime)
2 ounces tequila blanco
4 ounces light Mexican beer (such as Corona, Pacifico, or Sol)
Tabasco
Worcestershire
Garnishes: Lime wedges (olives, jalapenos, celery sticks, cheese cubes, etc.)

Steps:

  • Combine the vegetable juice, orange juice, lime juice, tequila, and beer in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and carefully secure the lid*.
  • Shake the contents vigorously for at least 30 seconds, or until the beer has gone flat.
  • Strain the contents of the shaker equally into two serving glasses filled with fresh ice.
  • Add Tabasco and Worcestershire to your liking. Garnish as desired.

3/4 cup chilled tomato juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon prepared horseradish
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce, such as Tabasco
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon Kosher salt
One 12-ounce bottle chilled brown ale, such as Newcastle
4 Spanish olives
2 cornichons
Special Equipment: 2 small, decorative skewers

Steps:

  • Stir together the tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, hot sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of the chili powder, the black pepper, vodka and lemon juice in a spouted liquid measuring cup. Combine the remaining 1/4 teaspoon chili powder and the salt in a small shallow bowl. Wet the rim of two highball cocktail glasses and dip into the salt mixture to coat evenly. Pour half of the tomato juice mixture into each glass and top each with half of the ale. Garnish each cocktail with two olives and a cornichon on a skewer.

As name suggests, bloody beer is prepared by mixing beer with spiced tomato juice. Discover how to make refreshing and light cocktail of beer and tomato juice with this easy beer cocktail recipe.

1 bottle or can (12 oz) Light Lager Beer
120 ml (4 oz) Tomato Juice
1 dash Worcestershire Sauce
1 dash Tabasco Pepper Sauce
1 pinch Ground black pepper
5 ml (1/6 oz) Lime Juice (Optional)

Steps:

  • Directions:First add tomato juice in the pint glass followed by Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco pepper sauce and lime juice, stir well.Top up with light lager beer and stir.Sprinkle ground black pepper on top and serve.

1 lime, cut into wedges
3 cup hot-style vegetable juice, chilled
1 teaspoon lime juice
1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
0.5 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
0.25 - 0.5 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce
0.25 teaspoon celery seeds
0.25 teaspoon ground white pepper
2 12 ounce cans or bottles lager or pilsner beer, chilled
Ice cubes
Celery sticks and/or lime wedges

Steps:

  • If desired, in a shallow dish combine Old Bay seasoning and salt. Rub rims of eight 12-ounce pilsner glasses with the lime wedges from 1 lime; dip rims in salt mixture.
  • In a large pitcher combine vegetable juice, lime juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, celery seeds, and white pepper. Pour in beer; stir gently to combine.
  • Serve in glasses over ice. Garnish with celery sticks and/or additional lime wedges.

1 stalk celery, halved lengthwise, for garnish
2 pepperoni sticks, for garnish

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the beer, tomato juice, tequila, lemon juice, hot sauce, horseradish, Worcestershire, celery salt and dry mustard. Shake for 10 seconds, then pour into two tumbler glasses. Garnish each with a celery stick and a pepperoni stick. Serve.
