Steps:
- Trim excess fat from ribs. Combine dry ingredients and rub over the surface of the ribs. Place ribs in slow cooker or Crock-Pot standing on their edge with the meaty side out. Cook for about 8 hours. Remove ribs from slow cooker and brush with barbecue sauce.
- My Note: THE ONLY THING I DID DIFFERENTLY WAS THAT I TURNED OFF THE SLOW COOKER AND I REMOVED THE RIBS. I PLACED THEM ONTO A FLAT TRAY LINED WITH FOIL, WITH MINIMAL JUICE FROM THE SLOW COOKER. I PRE-HEATED THE OVEN TO 380 AND I BRUSHED THE RIBS WITH SWEET RAYS BBQ SAUCE ( WE LOVE THIS BBQ SAUCE) AND WE BAKED THEM FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES TO FIRM THEM UP A BIT AND GLAZE THEM. THEY WERE AWESOME.
- First, we cooked for 6.5 hours on low, and the ribs came out moist and falling off the bone tender. Any longer, and they would have not have held together. Second, we also coated lightly in BBQ sauce when they came out, and then put them under the broiler for 7 minutes. That way, the outside was crispy and BBQ-like, but the inside was moist and so, so, tender. When we make again, we'll take them out after 6 hours, which is plenty on low! My wife said they are the best she's ever had, and my mother-in-law wanted the recipe!
PRESSURE COOKER RIBS
Steps:
- Prepare Baby Back Ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs with a butter knife and a paper towel.
- Dry Rub Baby Back Ribs: Mix all the dry rub ingredients and rub it all over the baby back ribs. Then, set aside while you prepare other ingredients.
- Pressure Cook Baby Back Ribs: Pour the homemade BBQ sauce into the pressure cooker. Add 2 - 3 drops of liquid smoke into the BBQ sauce. Place the baby back ribs into the BBQ sauce (see tips). *Pro Tip: If your Instant Pot is very sensitive to the "Burn Error", layer the Ketchup & Dijon mustard on top of the Ribs instead of mixing it into the BBQ sauce.Close lid and Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 16 - 25 minutes. Turn off the heat and Full Natural Release. Open the lid carefully.*Pro Tip: Adjust your cooking time according to your preference: 16 minutes (tender with a bit of chew) to 25 minutes (fall off the bone).
- Preheat Oven: While the baby back ribs is cooking in the pressure cooker, preheat the oven to 450°F.
- Set Aside Baby Back Ribs: Carefully place the pressure cooked baby back ribs on a chopping board with kitchen tongs. Cover it with aluminum foil and set aside.
- Filter the Fat (Optional Step): Filter the BBQ sauce with a strainer and remove the fat with an oil separator.
- Reduce BBQ sauce: Place roughly chopped carrots into the BBQ sauce and bring your BBQ sauce to a simmer (Instant Pot: Press Sauté button once, then Adjust button to Saute Less Function).Continue to reduce and thicken the BBQ sauce by simmering until desired thickness (~6 - 8 mins). Occasionally, stir with a wooden spoon. Taste the seasoning of the BBQ sauce. Stir in more brown sugar and additional 1 - 2 drops of liquid smoke if necessary.
- Apply Sauce and Finish in Oven or Grill: Brush the homemade BBQ sauce all over the baby back ribs on all sides including the bones with a silicone basting brush. Place the baby back ribs in the oven on the top rack for 10 - 15 minutes.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the baby back ribs immediately with more homemade BBQ sauce along with the carrots.

BAKED BABY BACK RIBS
Even a barbeque purist cannot scoff at these foil-wrapped, baked and glazed baby back ribs. They're satisfyingly sweet, savory, smoky and flavorful. The meat falls off the bones! Baking in foil also reduces the amount of clean up. You'll be busy enjoying these ribs -- who has time for dishes?

Steps:
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, chipotle chile powder, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, seafood seasoning and black pepper.
- Place each slab of ribs on a piece of aluminum foil large enough to fold over and seal, then place on a baking sheet. Do not seal the ribs in the foil yet (see Cook's Note). Generously sprinkle the dry rub on both sides of the ribs. Place in the refrigerator, meat-side down and uncovered, for at least 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
- In a small bowl, combine the apple cider, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, Worcestershire and minced garlic. Pour half the liquid over each slab and tightly seal each in the aluminum foil, crimping the edges to make a packet.
- Transfer the foil packets and baking sheet to the oven and bake until the meat is tender and starts to pull away from the bones, about 2 hours.
- Remove the sheet pan from the oven. Carefully open the aluminum packets and pour the braising liquid into a small saucepan. Bring the liquid to a simmer over medium heat until it becomes a thick and syrupy glaze, about 4 minutes.
- While the braising liquid reduces, line a baking sheet with foil and gently transfer the ribs to it. Position a rack on the top level of the oven and preheat the broiler.
- Using a pastry brush, generously brush the ribs with about half the glaze. Place the ribs under the broiler for about 1 minute. Brush with the remaining glaze and return to the broiled until charred in spots, about 1 minute more. Slice each rack between the bones into 2-rib portions and serve.

Steps:
- With a rack bone side up, and starting at one end, slip a knife tip under the translucent membrane, loosening it from the bone. Once you have lifted enough to get a good grip, grasp the membrane with a paper towel and peel it off the rack (or ask your butcher to do this). Repeat with the remaining rack(s). Cut the rack(s) in half crosswise.
- Stack the ribs in the Instant Pot. Pour in the apple juice and vinegar. Secure the lid and move the Pressure Release to Sealing. Select the Meat/Stew setting and set the cooking time for 20 minutes at high pressure. (For meat-falling-off-the-bone ribs, set the cooking time for 25 minutes.)
- Let the pressure release naturally for 15 minutes. While the pressure is releasing, preheat the oven to 400° F and line a sheet pan with aluminum foil or a silicone baking mat.
- When 15 minutes have passed, move the Pressure Release to Venting to release any remaining steam. Open the pot and, using a pair of tongs, transfer the ribs to the prepared sheet pan. Discard the cooking liquid.
- Brush the ribs on both sides with the barbecue sauce, then bake for about 10 minutes, until the sauce is a caramelized and browned. Remove from the oven, cut the ribs apart, and serve.
BEST PRESSURE COOKER STICKY BBQ RIBS EVER
It's time to give back to the Allrecipes community for all they have given to me. This recipe is the culmination of learning how to make BBQ ribs for competition, plus learning from my family members who are all pressure cooker experts. The end result, after years of trial and error, will have everybody licking their fingers in complete ecstasy. You can save a few teaspoons of BBQ sauce, throw it into 2 boxes of mac and cheese, and serve the ribs alongside.

Steps:
- Place the metal rack in your cooker and add 1/2 cup of water (I used 1 cup as the manufacturer of my electric cooker recommends).
- If your cooker is large enough you can bend the racks around in a circle. Otherwise cut into sections and stand them upright in the cooker.
- Lock the lid in place.
- Bring to 15psi (high pressure in electric cooker) and cook for 12 minutes.
- Remove from heat and use quick release method to depressurize.
- When pressure drops, carefully open lid and use long tongs to remove ribs.
- Cover with sauce by dipping in sauce in a shallow pan, or basting well as you broil or BBQ the ribs to complete.
