CLASSIC FRENCH TOAST

Classic French Toast image

This Classic French Toast recipe uses simple pantry ingredients with a secret ingredient that makes a thicker batter with cinnamon sugar flavors that really set it apart!

Provided by Lauren Allen

Categories     Breakfast

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 large eggs
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 thick slices bread

Steps:

  • Preheat griddle to 350 degrees F or or heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add all ingredients, except the bread, to a blender or to a shallow dish and whisk well to combine. If whisking by hand, it's okay if the flour doesn't mix in completely smooth.
  • Dip bread slices into the batter, dredging them well on both sides, and place on hot, greased griddle or skillet.
  • Cook for a few minutes, until the bottom of the breads starts to get golden brown. Flip and cook on the other side the same.
  • Remove to a plate. Serve warm with syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

5-INGREDIENT COPYCAT BURGER KING FRENCH TOAST STICK RECIPE

5-Ingredient Copycat Burger King French Toast Stick Recipe image

We wanted to indulge in our favorite French toast sticks all the time, so we came up with this 5-ingredient copycat Burger King French toast stick recipe.

Provided by Lindsay D. Mattison

Categories     Breakfast

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 slices Texas toast
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons whole milk
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon sugar

Steps:

  • Remove and discard the crust from each slice of Texas toast. Slice each piece of bread lengthwise into three equal pieces, creating six sticks. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, make the batter by combining the egg, milk, and cinnamon sugar. Whisk until the batter is fully combined and you no longer see flecks of yolk.
  • Heat 1/4 inch of oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  • When the oil is shimmering, briefly dip a Texas toast stick into the batter, allowing the excess to drain before transferring the bread to the hot oil. Continue dipping the sticks into the batter until all the bread is in the pan. If all the sticks won't fit in the pan at once, cook the French toast sticks in several batches.
  • Cook the French toast sticks for 1 to 2 minutes per side, until they're golden brown and cooked through.
  • Sprinkle the cooked French toast sticks with powdered sugar, if desired, and serve with maple syrup, if using.

THE BEST CLASSIC FRENCH TOAST RECIPE

The Best Classic French Toast Recipe image

The Best Classic French Toast - This easy French toast recipe makes homemade fluffy french toast using a cinnamon batter and any type of bread you want.

Provided by Amanda Finks

Categories     Breakfast     brunch

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 large eggs
1/4 cup whole milk (-or your preferred milk/milk alternative)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons unsalted butter for cooking
6 slices of bread (-any kind of bread will work)
For topping: powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, etc.

Steps:

  • Add the eggs to a large bowl. Whisk until well scrambled.*
  • Add the milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Whisk until well combined.
  • If your mixing bowl isn't wide enough to fit a piece of bread, transfer the egg mixture to a shallow dish, such as a pie plate.
  • Place a 12 inch skillet over medium-high heat for 2 minutes (a griddle would also work well for this). Then, reduce the heat to medium and add 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • As the butter melts, use tongs to dip a piece of bread in the eggs to get it evenly coated in liquid and flip it over to coat both sides. Only let the bread soak in the eggs for about 2 seconds per side.** Let any excess liquid drip off of the bread, then place the bread in the skillet, fitting 3 pieces of bread in the skillet at a time.
  • Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3 minutes. Use a spatula to flip the bread over and cook until the other side is golden brown, about 2 minutes.
  • Repeat with the remaining butter and bread.
  • Serve warm. Top with traditional french toast toppings like powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, etc.
