HONEY-GRILLED PORK CHOPS



Honey-Grilled Pork Chops image

This honey-based marinade is an excellent way to add flavor to grilled pork chops. This is also an excellent recipe for grilled pork tenderloin.

½ cup honey
6 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons minced garlic
6 pork chops

Steps:

  • Whisk honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and garlic together in a bowl until marinade is smooth. Pour marinade into a resealable plastic bag, reserving about 1/4 of the marinade in a bowl for basting. Add the pork chops to the bag, coat with the marinade, squeeze bag to remove excess air, and seal the bag; marinate in the refrigerator at least 5 hours.
  • Preheat grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate. Remove pork chops from the marinade, and shake off excess. Discard remaining marinade.
  • Grill pork chops on the preheated grill, basting with the reserved marinade during the last few minutes, until pork chops are cooked through, 15 to 20 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 145 degrees F (63 degrees C). Let pork chops rest for 3 minutes before serving.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup sugar-free apricot preserves
1 tablespoon minced chives
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Sprinkle pork with garlic pepper blend. In a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray, brown chops in oil on each side. , Combine the preserves, chives and salt; spoon over chops. Reduce heat; cover and cook until a thermometer reads 145°, 5-6 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with sauce.

1 teaspoon finely chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon thyme

Steps:

  • Heat salad oil in a small pan, add onion and saute until tender, add lemon juice, thyme, salt and pepper.
  • This sauce should be be prepared and applied to the chops before cooking.
  • Lightly baste each side and continue to baste as they cook.

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • In a small bowl, combine molasses, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Reserve 3 tablespoons sauce for serving., Grill pork, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from heat 4-5 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 145°, brushing with remaining sauce during the last 3 minutes of cooking. 4 pork loin chops (about 1/2 pound/2.50g each), cut 1 inch/2.5 cm thick
salt and pepper
For the classic barbecue sauce:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 lemon
1/2 cup/100 g brown sugar
1/4 cup/60 ml vinegar
1/2 cup/125 ml tomato ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon chili powder, or to taste

Steps:

  • Make the barbecue sause:
  • heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the onion and garlic until soft and lightly browned, 4-5 minutes. Grate the zest from the lemon and squeeze the juice. Add the lemon zest, half the lemon juice, the sugar, vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce and chili powder to the onion and simmer gently, 5 minutes. Taste, adjust the seasoning and let cool.
  • Light the grill. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper and brush with the cooled barbecue sauce. Grill them, basting often, 5-7 minutes. Turn over and continue grilling and basting until the chops are done, 5-7 minutes longer.
