BLUEBERRY-BASIL LIMEADE

Steps:
- Place the sugar, basil sprigs and 1 cup of water into a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring every so often, until the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let steep for 30 minutes.
- Discard the basil and pour the syrup into a pitcher. Stir in the lime juice and 4 cups of cold water. Add the blueberries and chill for at least 4 hours or until ready to serve.
- To serve, put some ice in a glass, pour over the limeade and garnish with basil leaves. To make into a cocktail, add ice to a rocks glass and top with 1 1/2 ounces gin. Top off with the limeade and garnish with basil.
BASIL INFUSED LIMEADE

- In a large pitcher combine the water, sugar and lime zest and stir to combine. Add the lime juice and basil leave and let the mixture marinate for at least 2 hours. Pour the mixture through a strainer into another pitcher. Add ice and serve.
BASIL LEMONADE
I tweaked this recipe it to make a refreshing drink. I love basil and this recipe has a wonderful basil-infused flavor. Delicious on a warm day or with grilled chicken. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh basil and lemon slices.

- Stir water, lemonade, sugar, and lime juice together in a pitcher. Add 1/2 cup basil leaves, stir to combine, cover the pitcher, and refrigerate until flavors combine, 8 hours to overnight. Remove basil leaves and discard.

- To prepare the basil syrup, combine the basil, zest, and sugar in a medium saucepan and muddle with a wooden spoon. Add the water and bring to a boil, stirring frequently until all sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let stand at room temperature 1 hour, then transfer to an airtight container and chill until cold. Strain syrup and discard solids.
- To prepare the lemonade, stir all ingredients together in a large pitcher. Taste and adjust the sweetness, if necessary. Fill tall glasses with the blueberry ice cubes. Add 1.5 - 2 ounces of tequila per glass (if using), top with lemonade, and stir. Garnish with fresh basil sprigs and lemon slices.
