He also specifies that the basil is muddled rather than just broken by the action of shaking as this produces a greener drink. He adds "Keep in mind: 5 cl Gin is not enough; 6 cl Gin is the recipe; 7 cl Gin is LOVE!"

- Muddle basil in gin in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add pineapple juice, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice. Cover and shake until the outside has frosted.
- Strain into a highball glass over ice and top with club soda.

Steps:
- Make the simple syrup:
- Heat the sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Do not boil. Stir until sugar dissolves, about 3 to 5 minutes, then remove the pan from the stove. Cool. Transfer the syrup to a clean bottle or jar. Cover and refrigerate.
- Make the cocktail:
- Muddle basil leaves with lemon juice and simple syrup. Add ice and gin and shake. Double-strain into a chilled cocktail glass with ice. Garnish with a basil sprig.
