Need something to munch on while grilling in the backyard? Need a great snack for a video marathon? This recipe fills the bill!

3 cups Rice Chex™ cereal
3 cups Corn Chex™ cereal
1 1/2 cups bite-size pretzel twists
1 1/2 cups bite-size cheese crackers
3/4 cup honey-roasted peanuts
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3/4 teaspoon onion powder
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals, pretzels, crackers and peanuts.
  • In medium bowl, mix remaining ingredients until well blended. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated.
  • Microwave uncovered on High 7 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Spread on foil or paper towels to cool, about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.

This is such a delicious and simple BBQ snack mix! This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled. Be careful though--it can be addictive.

1 (12.4 ounce) package cheese-flavored crackers (such as Cheez-It®)
2 cups small pretzels
2 cups crispy rice cereal squares (such as Rice Chex®)
1 cup honey-roasted peanuts
4 tablespoons vegetable oil, or more as needed
3 tablespoons barbeque seasoning
1 ½ teaspoons ground paprika

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Combine crackers, pretzels, cereal squares, and peanuts in a large bowl. Slowly drizzle oil over cracker mixture and gently stir mixture with your hands until well coated, adding more oil, if necessary.
  • Combine barbecue seasoning and paprika in a small bowl. Add to cracker mixture and toss gently until coated. Spread out on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring halfway through. Allow to fully cool before serving or storing.

3/4 cup honey-roasted peanuts
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Stir together cereals, pretzels, crackers and peanuts in large microwavable bowl; set aside.
  • Stir together remaining ingredients until blended.
  • Pour over cereal mixture in bowl, stirring until evenly coated.
  • Microwave uncovered on High 10 minutes, stirring every 3 minutes (time is approximate due to individual variances in microwaves).
  • Spread on aluminum foil or paper towels to cool.
  • Store in airtight container.

5 cups Corn Chex
2 cups corn chips
1 cup melba rounds
1 cup pretzel stick
1 cup smoked almonds
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup barbecue sauce (homemade is preferable)
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 250.
  • Combine cereal, corn chips, melba toast, pretzels, and almonds in a large bowl. Whisk butter and barbecue sauce together in a small bowl, then drizzle over cereal mixture. Sprinkle evenly with chili powder, oregano and cayenne and toss until well combined.
  • Empty mixture onto rimmed baking sheet and spread to distribute evenly. Bake stirring every 15 minutes, until golden and crisp, about 45 minutes.
  • Cool to room temperature.
  • Note: I found most of the ingredients in the bulk section. I took a one cup measuring cup and measured out what I needed -- plus a bit more for snacking!

  • In a small saucepan, melted the butter over medium heat then stir in the corn syrup, worchestershire sauce, all of the spices, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes. Immediately pour the hot mixture over the snack mix and stir it all together until all of the snack mixture pieces are well-coated. You want to make sure all of it has been touched by the liquid spice mixture or you'll end up with flavorless pieces. Divide the mix evenly between the 2 baking sheets and spread into an even layer.
  • Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, stirring every 20 minutes and rotating the trays top to bottom and front to back each time you stir. Transfer the trays to wire racks and allow the mixture to cool completely before transferring it to a gallon-size zip top bag or resealable container.
