BANANA SLUSH PUNCH

This is a favorite recipe of my late mother-in-law's family, used for all celebrations.

4 ripe bananas
2 cups white sugar
3 cups water
1 (46 fluid ounce) can pineapple juice
2 (12 fluid ounce) cans frozen orange juice concentrate
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
3 cups water
3 liters ginger ale

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine bananas, sugar and 3 cups water. Blend until smooth. Pour into a large bowl and stir in pineapple juice. Blend in orange juice concentrate, lemonade concentrate and 3 cups water. Divide into 3 plastic containers and freeze until solid.
  • Remove from freezer 3 to 4 hours before serving. Using one portion at a time, place slush in a punch bowl and pour in 1 liter of ginger ale for each.

Number Of Ingredients 8

6 medium ripe bananas
1 can (12 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
3/4 cup thawed lemonade concentrate
3 cups warm water, divided
2 cups sugar, divided
1 can (46 ounces) pineapple juice, chilled
3 bottles (2 liters each) lemon-lime soda, chilled
Orange slices, optional

Steps:

  • In a blender, cover and process the bananas, orange juice and lemonade until smooth. Remove half of the mixture and set aside. Add 1-1/2 cups warm water and 1 cup sugar to blender; blend until smooth. , Place in a large freezer container. Repeat with remaining banana mixture, water and sugar; add to container. Cover and freeze until solid. , One hour before serving, remove punch base from freezer. Just before serving, place in a large punch bowl. Add pineapple juice and soda; stir until well blended. Garnish with orange slices if desired.

1 pkg. (makes 2 qt. drink) or 2 pkt. (makes 1 qt. drink each) CRYSTAL LIGHT Strawberry Orange Banana Flavor Drink Mix*
1 bottle (1 liter) club soda, chilled

Steps:

  • Blend first 4 ingredients in blender until smooth. Pour into large plastic or glass pitcher. Refrigerate.
  • Stir in club soda just before serving.

6 cups water
4 cups white sugar
5 bananas
1 (46 fluid ounce) can pineapple juice
4 (6 ounce) cans frozen orange juice concentrate
2 (6 ounce) cans frozen lemonade concentrate
2 ½ (2 liter) bottles lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage (such as 7-Up®)
2 oranges, sliced for garnish

Steps:

  • Combine water and sugar in a large pot; bring to a boil. Cook and stir until the sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes. Cool in the refrigerator.
  • Put 1 banana and about 1 cup pineapple juice in a blender; blend until smooth. Repeat until all bananas are pureed into pineapple juice; stir into the pot with the simple syrup. Add orange juice concentrate and lemonade concentrate to the pot; stir. Divide the mixture into smaller containers and freeze until mostly solid.
  • Put frozen mixture into a large punch bowl. Thaw until slushy, but stirrable. Stir lemon-lime carbonated beverage into the punch bowl. Garnish with orange slices.

2 48-oz cans pineapple juice
1 12-oz can frozen lemonade concentrate
1 12-oz can frozen orange juice concentrate
5 ripe bananas
4 cups sugar
4x2L bottles of pop (gingerale, sprite, 7-up) *note: this slush punch recipe makes enough for 4 punch bowls, and you need 2L of pop to make 1 punch bowl.
2 1-gallon freezer-safe containers with lids

Steps:

  • simmer together 6 cups water and 4 cups of sugar until sugar is dissolved to make a simple syrup. remove from heat and let cool slightly. add the frozen juice concentrates and mix until all is melted together. set aside.
  • in a blender, blend part of 1 can pineapple juice with 2 1/2 bananas. pour into a 1-gallon freezer-safe container. add the rest of the open can of pineapple juice. repeat with the other can of pineapple juice and the remaining 2 1/2 bananas.
  • divide the simple syrup/juice concentrates mixture between the 2 containers. freeze for approximately 2 days, or until frozen through.
  • let thaw 1/2 hour before serving. scrape half of a container into a punch bowl and add a 2L bottle of pop. OR scrape into individual glasses and add pop. stir to get a frothy, slushy texture.
  • makes 4 punch bowls full.

can orange juice - frozen concentrate
can lemonade - frozen concentrate

7 cups water
few drops yellow food coloring, optional
1 litre ginger ale - chilled

Steps:

  • In large container or bowl, mash bananas and add rest of ingredients, except ginger ale. Mix together. Place in batches in blender, blend until smooth. Put in large plastic container with cover. When all is blended and in container, place in freezer and allow to freeze. Remove from freezer at least 2 hours before serving. Length of time can depend on the temperature. Place banana mixture in punch bowl and add ginger ale to fill bowl. Should be very slushy.

12 ounces frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
46 ounces unsweetened canned pineapple juice
6 ripe bananas
6 cups water
2 -4 cups sugar
10 liters ginger ale or 10 liters carbonated lemon-lime beverage

Steps:

  • Combine fruit juice and lemonade in a 1.5-gallon container.
  • In small batches in a blender, puree the bananas with water and sugar. Add the banana mash to the fruit juices. I use a stick blender to make sure that all ingredients are well-blended.
  • Freeze the base in 5 1-quart containers.
  • The day of service, thaw the punch base until it is slushy.
  • Add two liters of mixer for every quart of punch base.
  • Serving suggestion: Punch cups may be garnished with skewered fruit.
  • I think 2 cups of sugar is enough. Add more to adjust to your own taste.

2 cups white sugar
3 cups water
2-3 ripe bananas, smashed
3 cups pineapple juice
1 (6 oz) can frozen concentrated orange juice (or 1/2 of a 12 oz can)
3/4 cup water
1 (8 oz) can crushed pineapple
1 (2 liter) lemon-lime soda

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, bring sugar and 3 cups water to a boil and let boil for 5 minutes. Remove from stove top and let cool.
  • In a large bowl, mix together bananas, pineapple juice, concentrated orange juice, water, and crushed pineapple. Add in sugar water and mix well.
  • Freeze in a covered container for 24-48 hours.
  • Remove from freezer and using a large scoop, spoon into a large serving bowl. Chop up the large chunks if necessary.
  • Add lemon-lime soda and ladle into cups.

1 (12 ounce) can , frozen orange juice- thawed
3 lemons, juice of
5 bananas, mashed
2 liters soda Sprite or 2 liters diet Sprite

Steps:

  • On stovetop, heat sugar in water until fully dissolved. Let cool.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients except the soda and mix well. Freeze this mixture overnight. Be sure to pour it into something you can get it out of easily while still in frozen state. I use quart or gallon size freezer bags.
  • When ready to use - allow mixture to thaw a couple hours prior to serving. Place in punch bowl and add the bottle of soda. Serve and enjoy!
