GREEN BEANS WITH SHALLOTS RECIPE

Green Beans with Shallots Recipe image

TRADITIONAL FRENCH RECIPE: It doesn't take much to dress up green beans for a good and heathy meal. In this recipe the beans first blanched and then sautéed with pancetta and shallots, with some salt and freshly ground black pepper for seasoning. You can use thinly sliced onion in place of the shallots or substitute bacon or diced ham for the pancetta if that is what you have on hand.

Provided by Uncut Recipes

Time 20m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups Haricots Verts
1 cup Water
2 Shallots
1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Steps:

  • 01 - Thinly slice the Shallots into rings. 02 - Heat the Olive Oil in a large pan over medium-low heat. 03 - Sauté the Shallots rings slowly until soft and mellow. 04 - Add the Haricots Verts, Salt and Pepper and cook, stirring frequently, for about 2 minutes. 05 - Add half Water, little by little, and simmer until the Beans are tender and the water has evaporated. Then add the other half. Serve.

GREEN BEANS, BALSAMIC AND PANCETTA

Green Beans, Balsamic and Pancetta image

Pancetta is a mild, Italian bacon. If not available where you shop, use thin slices of regular bacon. I like this recipe because you can make ahead and keep for up to 2 days. From Chatelaine Magazine.

BALSAMIC GREEN BEANS

Balsamic Green Beans image

This is a quick and easy way to spruce up green beans. And they disappear fast. My family devours these. I created this when I was looking for something different to do with green beans in a hurry. A nice side for company too!

Provided by Alskann

Categories     Vegetable

Time 11m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lb green beans (I use frozen petite green beans)
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar (or to taste)
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

  • Place green beans in microwave safe dish with the butter. Cover and cook on high for five minutes.
  • Add vinegar and parmesan cheese. Cook on high five more minutes (covered).
  • Stir to make sure the beans are well coated with the vinegar mixture.
  • Serve and enjoy!
  • These would work well with fresh green beans too. You would just need to adjust the cooking time.
  • Ingredient amounts can be adjusted to suit your taste. I will sometimes increase the parmesan cheese and use 2 tablespoons of butter.

BALSAMIC GREEN BEANS

Balsamic Green Beans image

Bear with me on these, this is one of those recipes that I just throw together and don't really know the exact amount of ingredients I use. So I took a gander here, the best I can tell you is keep tasting and add more of this or that until you get the taste you like. Once you do I promise these will be a BIG hit, they are DELICIOUS! I have made them both cold and warm--I prefer them cold. Enjoy.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 lbs fresh green beans (cooked)

  • Drain green beans and cool to room temperature.
