A Midwestern favorite: cream cheese in wonton wrappers. The recipe dimensions are simple (1 wonton wrapper plus 1 teaspoon cream cheese) and can be easily altered. You can add chives, crab, and other kinds of cheese, just decrease the amount of cream cheese accordingly.

12 wonton wrappers
¼ cup cream cheese
1 teaspoon water, or as needed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Lay wonton wrappers on prepared baking sheet. Place 1 teaspoon cream cheese in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  • Lightly brush edges of wonton wrappers with water and fold each wrapper in half to form a triangle. Press edges to seal. Fold the tips of each triangle up together so that they meet in above the center of the wonton and press tips together to seal. Spray assembled wontons with cooking spray.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until wontons are crispy and golden and the cream cheese is melted, 5 to 7 minutes.

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1 large egg, room temperature

5 drops hot pepper sauce
1 cup lump crabmeat, drained
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
1/4 cup finely chopped sweet red pepper
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Minced chives, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Press wonton wrappers into miniature muffin cups coated with cooking spray. Spritz wrappers with cooking spray. Bake until lightly browned, 8-9 minutes. , Meanwhile, in a small bowl, beat cream cheese, cream, egg, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and pepper sauce until smooth. Stir in crab, green onions and red pepper; spoon into wonton cups. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. , Bake until filling is heated through, 10-12 minutes. Serve warm. 4 Tbsp Taco Seasoning ((or a Taco Seasoning Packet) )
1/4 cup Water
2 cups Cheddar Cheese ((shredded) )
1 can Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies ((10 oz) )
24 Wonton Wrappers

Steps:

  • Pre-heat the oven to 375. Lightly mist 12 cups in a muffin tin with cooking spray and set aside.
  • Brown the ground beef. Add onion and taco seasoning, and let onions get soft. Then add the tomatoes with green chilies and water.
  • Push a wonton wrapper into the bottom of each of the muffin cups. Spoon some of the meat mixture into each cup (using about half the total mixture). Sprinkle each cup with the shredded cheese. Press another wonton wrapper on top and repeat the layering steps with the remaining ingredients.
  • Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown. Let cool 5 minutes before removing from muffin tin. Run a knife around each muffin and then they should easily slide out.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Brush oil on both sides of each wonton wrapper or use an oil mister to mist each side of the wonton wrapper.
  • Carefully tuck the wrapper evenly into a well of a standard sized cupcake pan. (You'll need two pans for all 24 wonton cups.)
  • Bake 8 minutes or until cups are crispy and golden brown. Make sure to check that the bottom of each wonton cup is crispy. Allow to cool 5 minutes before removing from pan.

12 wonton wrappers
One 15-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed
One 4-ounce can diced green chiles, drained
2 teaspoons chili powder
Juice of 1/2 lime
1/2 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 small avocado, diced
1/3 cup pico de gallo
1/4 cup sour cream
Hot sauce, if desired
1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves

Steps:

  • For the wonton cups: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Brush 12 cups of a mini muffin pan with the butter. Fit 1 wonton wrapper into each cup, folding the sides as needed.
  • In a small bowl, toss together the beans, green chiles, chili powder and lime juice. Spoon some of the bean mixture into each cup, about a heaping tablespoon each. Bake until the filling is warmed through, about 12 minutes. Remove the pan and top each cup with a pinch of cheese. Return the pan to the oven and continue to bake until the cheese is melted and the wontons are golden, another 5 minutes.
  • For the toppings: Let the taco cups cool in the pan for a minute or two. Transfer the taco cups to a platter and top each with some avocado, pico de gallo, a small dollop of sour cream, hot sauce, if using, and cilantro.

1 small onion, chopped
1 can (8 ounces) sliced water chestnuts, drained and chopped
1/3 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup egg substitute
1-1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 package (12 ounces) wonton wrappers
Cooking spray
Sweet-and-sour sauce, optional

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook the pork, turkey and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Transfer to a large bowl. Stir in the water chestnuts, soy sauce, egg substitute and ginger., Position a wonton wrapper with one point toward you. (Keep remaining wrappers covered with a damp paper towel until ready to use.) Place 2 heaping teaspoons of filling in the center of wrapper. Fold bottom corner over filling; fold sides toward center over filling. Roll toward the remaining point. Moisten top corner with water; press to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling., Place on baking sheets coated with cooking spray; lightly coat wontons with additional cooking spray. , Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Serve warm, with sweet-and-sour sauce if desired. Freeze option: Freeze cooled baked wontons in a freezer container, separating layers with waxed paper. Twenty-four 3.5-by-3.5-inch square wonton skins
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small yellow onion, diced (about 1 cup)
2 cloves garlic, peeled and grated
1/2 pound ground turkey, preferably dark meat
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Heaping 1/2 cup grated Cheddar
Assorted toppings, such as shredded lettuce, diced avocado, salsa, sour cream, pickled jalapeños, and chopped cilantro, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and spray a 24-cup mini muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Delicately press the wonton skins into the mini muffin tin, being sure to make the base of the wonton skin is flat (this will ensure that the taco cup will stand flat when you remove them from the pan). Spray the wontons lightly with nonstick cooking spray and transfer them to the oven to bake until they are golden brown and crisp, 7 to 10 minutes.
  • In the meantime, heat a nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and swirl to coat the pan. Add in the onion and sauté until translucent, about 4 minutes. Add in the garlic and stir to combine. Add in the turkey, breaking up with a wooden spoon. Next add in the chili powder, cumin, dried oregano, smoked paprika, and salt. Cook, stirring frequently, until the turkey is cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • To assemble, keep the taco cups in the mini muffin tin (this will help with any unstable taco cups). Add a little cheese to each of the taco cups, then top them with the ground turkey mixture. Next add your desired toppings such as shredded lettuce, diced avocado, salsa, sour cream, pickled jalapeños, and chopped cilantro.
  • Transfer the taco cups to a platter and serve.
