Baked French Toast Sticks (Freezer-Friendly) image

Whip up a quick and freezer-friendly recipe for the best Baked French Toast Sticks perfect for dunking in warm maple syrup.

Provided by Kelly Senyei

Time 37m

Number Of Ingredients 8

8 slices thick-cut Texas toast bread
3 large eggs
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 Tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Cooking spray
Maple syrup, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and grease it generously with cooking spray.
  • Cut each slice of bread into three sticks widthwise.
  • In a large shallow dish or bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar and vanilla extract. Dip each stick of bread in the egg mixture, coating it on all sides, then shake off the excess and arrange it on the baking sheet. Repeat the dipping process, arranging the French toast sticks on the baking sheet so that they aren't touching.
  • Bake the French toast sticks for 12 minutes then flip them once, spray them lightly with cooking spray and return them to the oven for an additional 12 to 15 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Remove the French toast sticks from the oven and serve warm with maple syrup.

Time 30m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 11

cooking spray
6 slices stale cinnamon bread (such as Thomas®)
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (such as Nutella®)
¼ cup fat free half-and-half
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 tablespoon corn syrup
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray it with cooking spray.
  • Cut each slice of bread into three sticks. Whisk together milk, egg, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a large shallow dish. Dip each bread stick in the egg mixture quickly to avoid soaking the bread, yet coating it on all sides; shake off excess. Arrange bread sticks on the prepared baking sheet without them touching.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 minutes, flip them, spray lightly with cooking spray, and return to the oven until cooked through and golden brown, about 8 more minutes.
  • Meanwhile, whisk together hazelnut spread, half-and-half, cocoa powder, corn syrup, and salt in a small saucepan on medium-low heat. Bring to a boil and immediately remove pan from the heat, whisking until smooth.
  • Remove French toast sticks from the oven and serve warm with the chocolate dipping sauce.

CHOCOLATE FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE

Chocolate French Toast Casserole image

Chocolate French Toast Casserole - this easy overnight french toast recipe is full of chocolate from the milk to the chocolate chips! It's the perfect indulgent brunch recipe!

Provided by Dorothy Kern

Number Of Ingredients 6

12 ounces day-old bread (sliced into bite size pieces (I used a sourdough loaf))
1 cup chocolate chips
5 large eggs
1 1/4 cups Almond Breeze Chocolate Almondmilk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Spray an 8x11 or 9x13 pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Place bread cubes into the bottom of the prepared pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  • Whisk eggs in a large bowl. Whisk in almondmilk, sugar, and vanilla. Pour mixture over bread and press down lightly with your hands to soak it all up.
  • Let sit for at least 2 hours before baking. If your bread is fresh, you can bake it after 2 hours. If it's more stale, you'll want to let it sit longer. You can also cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • When ready to bake: preheat oven to 350°F. If your casserole has been in the refrigerator, let it come to room temperature while the oven preheats. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the casserole is cooked through. (This will take longer if your dish is cold.)
  • Serve warm with whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

  • Lightly butter a 9x13-inch baking dish. Slice a babka into 12 approximately half-inch thick slices, excluding the ends; you may not use the whole loaf of babka.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt. Dip each slice of babka into the egg mixture, then place into the prepared baking dish. The slices of babka will overlap. Pour the remaining egg mixture overtop the slices of bread, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes up to 18 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 325 °F. Sprinkle blueberries and almonds across the top of the casserole, tucking some between the slices of babka. Bake for 60 minutes, or until the slices of bread are puffed and browned and the custard is just set with no additional liquid pooling in the bottom. If the bread is browning too quickly, cover with foil.
  • While the babka is baking, make the blueberry sauce. Combine the blueberries, water, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a saucepan. Bring to a slow boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes, until slightly thicker.
