DELICIOUS CINNAMON BAKED APPLES
These baked apples taste simply great on a cold winter evening or any other evening. Plus the house smells just divine while cooking them.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a large baking dish with the butter.
- Mix brown sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl. Layer about 1/3 of the apples in prepared baking dish; sprinkle with 1/3 of the sugar mixture. Repeat layers twice more.
- Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Pour water over apples and continue baking until tender, about 15 minutes more.

This is an old fashioned, oven baked dessert that everybody loves. My mom always baked apples, but I added the red-hots because I love them.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8x8 inch square pan.
- Remove and reserve tops of apples. Core the apples, leaving approximately 1/2 inch at the bottom. Arrange in the baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon red hot candies and cinnamon. Fill each apple with the mixture. Replace apple tops. Sprinkle remaining mixture over the apples.
- Bake uncovered in the preheated oven 30 to 35 minutes, or until apples are tender.

BRATAPFELN (GERMAN BAKED APPLES) RECIPE
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients. Preheat oven to 450 F.
- Core apples (or cut into quarters, core, and put back together).
- Mix together the butter and sugar. Add raisins and walnuts.
- Pack the filling into the hollowed-out apples.
- Place in buttered baking dish and cover with lid or aluminum foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the tip of a thin knife can easily pierce the apple. Meanwhile, make the vanilla sauce.
- Gather the ingredients.
- In a medium heatproof bowl, beat together the egg yolks and both sugars (if you are using vanilla extract instead of vanilla sugar, it will be added later) until the yolks are thick and pale yellow and the sugar is dissolved, about 4 minutes.
- In a heavy-bottomed 2-quart saucepan, bring the 2 cups of milk to a boil. Pour the hot milk slowly in a thin stream over the egg yolk mixture, whisking continuously by hand or with an electric mixer.
- Pour the tempered egg-yolks back into the saucepan and heat without boiling until mixture coats the back of a spoon
- Remove pan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, if you are using it instead of the vanilla sugar. Serve warm drizzled over baked apples.

- 1. Lightly butter a baking dish, peel and core apples (BUT LEAVE HALF INCH OF CORE ON BOTTOM). Arrange apples in baking dish.
- 2. In small bowl mix together brown sugar,cinnamon red hots and cinnamon. Fill each apple with the mixture. With remaining mixture pour over the top of apples.
- 3. Bake uncovered 30 to 35 minutes.
RED HOT CINNAMON APPLES - A RED HOT APPLES RECIPE

- In a medium to large saucepan, heat water, sugar and Red Hot candies until it come to a boil and candies begin to melt. Turn off heat.
- Peel and quarter apples.
- Add apples to red syrup and turn heat to high, stirring often. Bring to a full boil until the syrup is almost boiling over; then lower heat to medium.

- Preheat oven to 350ºF.
- Peel, core, and slice apples - set aside.
- In a large saucepan, combine cinnamon candies, apple juice, Fireball, and sugar.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the cinnamon candies dissolve completely.
- Add the sliced apples to the pan and simmer over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes, or until the apples just start to soften.
- Strain the apples, reserving the liquid.
- Allow to cool to room temperature.
- Whisk the flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice into 1/2 cup of the liquid.
- Heat, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened.
- Place a rolled out pie crust in the bottom of the pie pan.
- Fill with the apples.
- Pour the thickened liquid over the top.
- Dot with butter.
- Add the top crust and seal the edges.
- If not using a lattice crust cut vents in the top.
- Bake at 350F for 50 minutes, or until apples are tender and juices are thick and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and cool.
