Provided by By Betty Crocker Kitchens

Categories     Dessert

Time 50m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 large unpeeled tart cooking apples (Rome, Granny Smith, Greening)
2 to 4 tablespoons granulated or packed brown sugar
4 teaspoons butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Core apples to within 1/2 inch of bottom. Peel 1-inch strip of skin from around middle of each apple, or peel upper half of each apple to prevent splitting. Place apples in ungreased glass baking dish.
  • Place 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon butter and 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon in center of each apple. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon. Pour water into baking dish until 1/4 inch deep.
  • Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender when pierced with a fork. (Time will vary depending on size and variety of apple.) Spoon syrup in dish over apples several times during baking if desired.

BAKED APPLES

Baked Apples image

This recipe is for whole baked apples stuffed with buttery brown sugar oat crumble. For extra flavor, feel free to swap the water with warm apple cider.

Provided by Sally

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 Tablespoons (43g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature (extra soft, so it's easy to mash)
1/4 cup (50g) packed light or dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup (20g) old-fashioned whole rolled oats
4 large apples (see note), rinsed and patted dry
optional: 2 Tablespoons raisins, dried cranberries, or chopped nuts
3/4 cup (180ml) warm water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (191°C).
  • Using a handheld or stand mixer with a paddle attachment, or simply using a fork or spoon, beat/mash the butter, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg together until combined. Stir in the oats, then the raisins/dried cranberries/nuts, if using. Set aside.
  • This can be tricky, but I recommend using a sharp paring knife and a spoon. (Or an apple corer.) I find cookie scoops can easily break or crack the apples. Using a sharp paring knife, cut around the core, about halfway or 3/4 down into the apple. Use a spoon to carefully dig out the core. Takes a bit of patience and arm muscle. Once the core is out, use a spoon to dig out any more seeds.
  • Place cored apples in an 8-inch or 9-inch baking pan, cake pan, or pie dish. Spoon filling into each apple, filling all the way to the top. Pour warm water into the pan around the apples. The water helps prevent the apples from drying out and burning.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until apples appear slightly soft. Bake longer for softer, mushier baked apples. The time depends on how firm your apples were and how soft you want them to be.
  • Remove apples from the oven and, if desired, baste the outside of the apples with juices from the pan. This adds a little moisture to the skin, but it's completely optional.
  • Serve warm with salted caramel, whipped cream, or ice cream. Cover and store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Little hands aged from 3-6 can help make these sweet treats, best served with vanilla ice cream

Provided by Good Food team

Categories     Dessert, Dinner

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 eating apples (grown-up helpers: please score around the circumference of each with a small, sharp knife)
handful of sultanas
2 tbsp light muscovado sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
matchbox-size piece of butter
2 tsp demerara sugar

Steps:

  • Ask a grown-up to turn the oven on to 200C/180C fan/ gas 6. Sit each apple on the worktop and push the apple corer into the centre of each one (or ask a grown-up to do this for you).
  • Mix the sultanas, muscovado sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl.
  • Stand up the apples, side by side, in a baking dish. Using your fingers, push a little bit of the sultana mixture into each apple, using up all the mixture between them.
  • Add a blob of butter to the top of each and sprinkle over the demerara sugar. Ask a grown-up to put the dish in the oven for 20 mins or until the apples are cooked through.

EASY BAKED APPLES

Easy Baked Apples image

A combination of sweet and tart apples are baked with a cinnamon spice blend until soft and caramelized. Serve with cold vanilla ice cream for a cozy Fall dessert.

Provided by Serene

Categories     Dessert

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 pounds apples (peeled, cored, sliced (favorites include Honeycrisp, Gala, and Granny Smith))
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp salt
juice from 1/2 a lemon
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp unsalted butter

Steps:

  • Preheat: Preheat the oven to 350℉ degrees.
  • Prepare Apples: Peel the apples, cut and remove the core and cut into slices about 1/3-1/2 an inch thick.
  • Combine Ingredients: Add the apples to a large bowl or you can mix right in a pie dish, or 2 quart baking dish. Add the light brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, lemon juice and vanilla extract. Stir to combine. If using a bowl, spoon the apples into a pie dish or 2 quart baking dish.
  • Butter: Cut the butter into small squares, and place them over the top of the apples.
  • Baking: Bake for 30 minutes, stirring after the apples have baked for 15 minutes. This prevents apples on the top from drying. Bake until the apples are tender and soft.
  • Serve: Remove and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Serve warm.

EASY CINNAMON BAKED APPLES

Easy Cinnamon Baked Apples image

Easy Cinnamon Baked Apples requiring simple ingredients and 1 bowl, plus naturally sweetened! The perfect grain- and gluten-free plant-based dessert for the holidays and beyond!

Provided by Minimalist Baker

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 12

6-7 medium to large apples
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp coconut oil ((optional))
2/3 cup coconut sugar ((or sub organic cane sugar // sub up to half with stevia to taste*))
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp fresh grated ginger*
1 pinch nutmeg
3 Tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot starch ((for thickening the sauce))
3 Tbsp fresh apple juice or water
1 pinch sea salt
Coconut Whipped Cream
Vanilla Bean Coconut Ice Cream*

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 C) and set out a 9x13-inch (or similar size) baking dish.
  • Peel and core apples, quarter, and use a paring knife to thinly slice lengthwise (see photo). The thinner the better! Just try to be consistent so they cook evenly.
  • Add to baking dish and top with lemon juice, coconut oil (optional), coconut sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cornstarch (or arrowroot), apple juice (or water), and a healthy pinch of salt. Toss to combine. Then loosely cover with foil.
  • Bake for 45 minutes (covered). Then carefully remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the apples are very fork tender (especially in the center of the dish) and slightly caramelized (see photo).
  • Enjoy as is or with Coconut Whipped Cream or Vanilla Bean Coconut Ice Cream! Best when fresh, though leftovers keep covered in the refrigerator up to 3-4 days or in the freezer up to 1 month. Reheat in the microwave or in a 350-degree F (176 C) oven (covered) until warmed through. Add a bit of water if the "caramel" sauce is too thick.
